Greetings Lords and Ladies,

It has been some time since I last created a crusader map, and this one has taken quite some time to prepare, from its humble origin as an incomplete entry for the historical design competition it laid dormant for some time.
However I am extremely pleased to have finally finished the map and even more pleased that it is here for you all to enjoy.

Here's some of the History, the full historical document can be viewed in the zip file.

Krak Des Chevaliers, also known as Crac des Chevaliers which mean Fortress of the Knights in a mixture of Arabic and French acted as the headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller, a monastic order which was first founded after the pope Gregory the Great commissioned the building of a hospital in Jerusalem. The monastic hospitaller order was founded following the First Crusade by the Blessed Gerard, whose role as founder was confirmed by a Papal bull of Pope Paschal II in 1113. Gerard acquired territory and revenues for his order throughout the Kingdom of Jerusalem and beyond. His successor, Raymond du Puy de Provence, established the first significant Hospitaller infirmary near to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Initially the group just cared for those pilgrims who made it to Jerusalem but the order soon extended into providing an armed escort to pilgrims. The escort soon grew into a substantial force.

Have fun and good luck,

brandonlavoie Odd Lord Micheal I, it appeared in the play section for me. Did you try restarting crusader? did you put it in the right file?

Nice approach,
I always worry when i playtest it, cause i know where the traps are as such so I always hope that the balance will still be ok for others, so far it sounds like it is.

I do enjoy making these crusader maps, maybe it wont be too long before i get cracking on another, I have been looking at Margat aswell as Belvoir.

Thanks for the reply.

Fixed now. I restarted crusader and it appeard. Weird...

This is a hard one..
5 times trying!
The five times I've followed brandonlavoie's approach except instead of making battering rams, I made a bunch of shields to protect my archers and horse archers from x bowmen and archers. after cleaning the first wall, I thought: Hey, and how am I going to enter?
So I had to break a hole manually, that killed 20 or 30 swordsmen, then when I was in I did'nt know how to enter so I tried pulling down the gate. Pitch traps killed me in try #1 and 2, in try 3 and 4 I sent a suicide swordsmen to light the pitch and enter easily, when I was in, I got killed. Try #5 happened the same. I'll keep trying though.

Taking out most of the archers it crucial in the siege, try and keep them as long as you can,
I even used shields to help deal with the enemy blow.

Keep at it,
Lord Michael I
Doing better!
Know I'm using shields when I'm inside the castle to hel take out the second line of archers and x bowmen. I've noticed that the fire balistas are really useful in the part of taking down the first line of archers since you can shoot from a distance where you can fire but the enemy can't.

Finished the map! At the end the way of defeating the map is nearly the same as brandolavoie's manner of doing it. You're right, the victory message satisfacts a lot.

Good to hear. :D

the big T I liked this map because it was a crusader map which i didnt have to alter something in the editor to make it beatable by my standards
(im not really the best stronghold player out there). I almost lost because of the pitch ditch lol.
Demonta Wow that was fun!!! I just don't see how you make such brilliant castles!!!
