A cold day in early spring. I stand on the ramparts overlooking town. My heart is filled with fear as I look toward the mountains. The sound of horns blowing fill the air as our enemy prepares themselves to destroy us. long have these man-eaters haunted our steps, and long have we evaded them. There is no peace anywhere. They have attacked us time after time, and so many of our men have fallen to them. We gathered earlier today at the great hall. "How can we hope to stop this vile pestilence on our land?" we ask our leader. "How can thirteen Norse warriors and a handful of villagers hope to overcome the hordes that gatherat the edge of the forest?" Our leader fell silent. Then he looked up and said, "With courage." Some of the men's spirits were lifted, but I was not one of them. Yes, we have successfully survived their previous attacks. Yes, we were able to invade their caves and kill their queen mother. Our stocks are emptying. Few of us left in the village have the knowledge of making weapons. Now, as I stand here, looking at the gathering darkness on the edge of the woods, I cannot believe we can overcome them. My eyes behold hundreds, maybe thousands of them. This time, they cannot be driven off. This time, they fight for revenge, a hunger that cannot be satisfied until we all lie headless on the ground, drowning in our own blood. The watchman calls out, "They are coming!" I draw my sword as they approach. By Odin! There are so many! Our few archers fire, and momentarily drive them back, but there are too many. Then, in the darkness, I hear a voice. I hear many voices. Ah..........my ancestors, they call to me. Now there is no fear; there is no sorrow. Today, I join my fathers in Valhala. Today I go to fight. Today, I go to my Doom.....
Ok, cool? Cool. This map is based on the final battle in the movie "The 13th Warrior". If you don't know what that is, then search online for it, find out about it. It stars Antonio Banderes. In this scenerio, you have thirteen swordsmen. The only other kind of soldier you can train is a spearman. You will have some archers and crossbowmen, but not many, so you will have to conserve them. There's a little, but not much eye-candy, this is a fighting map. So please download and comment or review. Good luck and Odin be with you.
*Updated* you want it harder? Fine.
-Invasions are larger.
-Less starting troops.
-You can train spearmen and archers, but can't build any more poleturner or fletcher buildings.
-Lose condition added. If the Lord or 100 of your men die, you lose.
You want harder? Fine, you got it.
