Being the leader of a gang of brigands is by no means an easy job. You have tried threats, beatings, and finally humilation to keep order, but nothing worked. The men are out of control and you need something to attack, QUICK!
You send out spies to the foreign ports to scout for any unarmed merchant ship ready for the taking. Rumors heard around Specularum described an upcoming arrival through your ambush area. You are told that a valuable magic item will be on board a certain ship. Such precious cargo is usually hand carried by overland route, but this was a special transportation case coming from a nation of islands who wanted it delivered by ship (fire ship). The item is the famous Bucknard's Everfull Purse and it is a literal money maker. As long as the purse (small sack) holds at least one gold piece at all times, appearing in the morning would be 26 gold coins in the bag. Up to 25 magically created coins are conjured, and the coins can pass under all magic tests as genuine coins. A true gold mine.
Your spies pay their informant 1000 gold pieces for the name of the ship and a map of its known route. You summon your brigand army. It is a motley crew, but a rag tag army nonetheless. Your line of fully loaded catapults will be ready for the ship to come into sight.
You lay in ambush at the only resupply stop on the ships route of travel. You tell your men to line the catapults for a simultaneous barrage on your command. Then you wait.
On the second day you spot a sail approaching. It is the foreign sailing ship flying colors and laden with its magical cargo, Bucknards everfull purse, pulling in. It slowly heaves to and lowers its mooring lines to the flimsy rock pier. Then from all around the market place archers and crossbowmen step out of their cover. Wizards Guild guards! You must kill all present, so no one lives to tell the tall of the theft (WIN CONDITION). Your neighbors brigand gang are also interested in getting a bag that makes gold coins! They are in the process of storming the ballista battery's walls (Green on map). Use your catapults to full effect on the Ship!
I have been getting some maps on here finally. Thanks for everyones support! Ratings accepted.
Playability: 4
A map that you need to think to complete. The other bandit group did not do that much damage so you were pretty much on your own. The catapults were needed to soften of the ship and take down some walls to allow easier passage.
Balance: 4
The map looks easy but it is deceiving. The archers on the ship wrecked havoc on my men attack the ruined town. All of your units had to be used to full effect,
Creativity: 4.5
A ruined town with a great ship makes this a high score for this map.
Map Design: 4
The enemy units are somwhat hidden making the map harder to complete. A mixture of terrain is also used.
Story/Instructions: 4
A good write up that has a fantasy theme. The map reflects the story perfectly.
