COMMENT:
I'm not a castlebuilder. Loving small farms in small dales, loving calm shallows and streams running down, loving forts that has only a chapel, a stable and a watchtower, as it were I'm a bonsai-manorbuilder. Though I also love chances "freebuild" has, I may update this map as "invasion" or "economic"(collect-arms-type).
REPORT:
"That day I first beheld the coast, and grieved to have a lifeless view, oh my lord, King deceived you! This is the map. Your new vassalage is a truly deserted and barren land, just cliffs, sea gulls, clouds, hills, shower, deer, streams, heath, tiny fields full of rocks, smoky mountains full of revolts! Yes indeed, my lord, I remember the words told by that monkey-faced, dung-made, old lecherous slug in the cesspit-throne! In exchange for your betrayal...mmm, for your support, he promised you a vassalage where is flooded by milk and honey and you will be steeped to your head and drowned... My lord, in truth, you have recieved a most barbaric frontier of this kingdom and you will be steeped in battles and blood! Oh my lord, please tell me a word you have to tell me. Yes? Loudly? Yes, yes, yes, yes indeed! VENGEANCE is the word! Make him learn a lesson! You can take back your old vassalage and more, oh I mean, of course, the throne! But now, you must endure, must foster your power. Fortunately this new vassalage is far from Home and you can keep your dogs as defences toward cheiftains. My lord, King's Navy guarantees your supply of ARMS, ALES, PITCH. About arms, you must equip your men to be respectable, otherwise chiehtains despise your power. But I was reported that chieftains also supported by King's faction, yes indeed, how dirty that toad is! Please look the map, my lord. Arable land is limited to the coast area. Then, I found two costal points for QUARRIES and two mountainside IRON MINES. Mainly bandits and chieftains come from mountain.(use F1-key) Now, my lord, plan your castle, gather your people and sail to your new vassalage! |

Oh my God! What a FANTASTIC minimap! Great work there, man!
I thought Stronghold was slowly dying, but it's good to see new, talented, designers joining in!
Splendid! |

First, I must say that I know that this review is somewhat of a violation against the rules, but then again, how do you really review a freebuild? The map varies completely from person to person, as everyone plays it in his/her own way.
To me, this map was STUNNING. The plays i realy nice, building space is really limited and the starting resources are well balanced, but enough with that and on to the map design:
Awesome! That's how I'll sum it up. This map looks wonderful! I have seen few maps that can even compete to this map. The realism, the perfect balance of detail, the simplicity, and most of all; the beauty. Wonderful!
My only comment would be the storyline, this is way too short and un-detailed, and the only thing that prevented me from giving this map a full 5.

I found a basic mistake the existing version has. Withering. Too many shrubs occupy spaces for trees. I will fix it quickly. |

Fixed problems:
Withering problem is fixed. I had two options. 1, reducing shrubs but its beauty hurt. 2, deleting trees completely and permitting wood-import but game-balance hurt. I chose 1 and limited species of tree: chesnut. This coast seemed to be more barren than I thought myself...(05/07/06)
An odd plume on the westernmost cape fixed(05/09/06)
