This is definitely a unique approach to an invasion scenario!

PLAYABILITY: I struggled with scoring this. Above average? Below average? I settled for simply: average.

Ecomonically, the scenario was not very challenging, as all you could build was logging huts, hunting shacks and hovels. It was easy to optimize the hunting/logging mix.

Militarily, the brigands had potential, but ended up putting up less of a fight than did the French in 1940. Kill one and they all turned tail and ran off, leaving me shouting after one maceman, "Wait! Come back! I am not done bashing in your head or filling your buds with arrows yet! COME BACK!... Come Back!... Come... back."

The enemy was more spirited in their final assault. Still, I won the scenario with under 30% losses overall.

Summed up: both economically and militarily... average.

BALANCE: The number of invasions, number of troops, and timing of catastrophes all seemed well designed, yet, for some reason, did not achieve their intended goals. If either of the first invasions or food losses had done more damage, I am certain the scenario would have been more fulfilling to play.

CREATIVITY: I had so many hunters running around, I thought I was in Pennsylvania on opening day of deer season! The scenario was a imaginative concept and is rewarded as such.

MAP DESIGN: Nothing outstanding, but not lacking either.

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Another oustanding storyline, but some mechanical writing problems prevented it from reaching
"5-dom".

This scenario presents you with a style of play you rarely see. However, the imited number of choices you can make in the development stages leads you to a fairly easy win.

I enjoyed this mission a lot. It was very original and something that I had never seen before. It was a little bit on the easy side, but it was important to control the popularity level throughout the mission. The map wasn't of a super original quality, but it served it's purpose. As always, the story was great and keeps my interested in the story line.

This map is slighly ordinary compared with the previous few. In my opinion it lacked the certain creativity and enjoyement. Still a strong map, quite difficult and simple to play. The map design was just too odinary even for its time to gain a 4 but I really do love this storyline. It is so deailed and makes you feel like a proper campaign. Worth a go but I would have to say that it is perhaps not quite as strong as the other maps this entertaining series.
