Borderland is a picturesque freebuild set near the borders of Scotland and England, though not based on a specific area.
Whilst it is pretty clear where the castle is to be situated, I wanted to provide an unlocked landscape that can be changed to a different scenario should you wish to modify what I have already provided. Please feel free to do what you wish, or simply play away in what I hope is a relaxing map!
A little history: the area has already seen the beginnings of civilisation. The large lake has been dammed and drained to provide a small area of fertile land to enable wheat, hops and apple farms, but use the space wisely. Stone is present but by no means abundant, however ore bearing rock is plentiful, with sufficient 'pockets' to construct iron mines to provide the materials required.
As always, please feel free to post comments on the map if you wish.
Very nice freebuild.
It is very well replayable, by placing the keep on a different place, but there are places were that is not advisable.
Balance 4. Everything was fine here, the stone and iron sources not too nearby, you have to work for it, to get your economy up and running.
Creativity 4. I felt “at home”in that landscape, it looks real.
Very well planned map with a sharp eye for details. Mountains, hills, water and meadows look realistic. Beautiful waterfalls.
There is no story on the map, but the description page gave a good explanation and a nice little story, that fits very well with the map.

This is a very nice freebuild map, where you are sucked completely into the landscape. The resources are all well balanced, and the farmland is in a realistic spot.
The map had a great balance of looks and playability,(i.e. The random placing of rocks and trees didn't interfere with castle building)
Awesome idea for a map. I especially liked the refrence to a real place, as too often the map builder doesn't specify where or when the scenario plays out.)

God, where do I start? This map is absou-freakin-lutely amazing. The lake took my breath away, and the river looked like it had flowed there for ever. Everything looked natural and in its place.
There never really is much to say about freebuild maps, but trying is where the point is.
Overall a splendid map. Take a look at mine, "The Ettenmoor". It's also a freebuild.
