Hey Guys! Not Many Stronghold Freebuild maps Lying Around, So Thought i Would Make A Whole Bunch Of Em!
This is Carvahall (If Any of You have Read Eragon You will know What This Place Is) Basicly Its a Small Village That Is Very peaceful. There Is No Lord Running This Place, Just Roran To Help manage the Place.
The Archers At the 'Table' Are Just there For Amusement. Please, Try Not To Delete The Tables, Wooden Walls, Hunters Posts, Etc, Because That Will basicly Wreck it. Because Carvahall Was Meant To be A Hunting Ground With A Great Inn Surronded By Walls.
I wanted to have lots Of Hovels Everywhere, but Because I didnt Want All You Worried People, I have Made them I the Enemys Colour, please Dont Destroy Them!
Peace out!
EDIT: Found out How To spell Village |

Darn you beat to making one of my own Carvahall maps. Goin for devending it from the Razac that attack it.
You should try out my map of Eragon, Glory of the Varden, just search it or you can check out my profile.
Nice map btw. |

Playability: 3
Had to tick down playability here for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's a bit too small. I like small maps, but maybe 200x200 would give a little more room for expansion. The other thing is that this is a freebuild. Usually, you don't want to have too many starter buildings on a freebuild as it makes it boring and this one had a running economy. Put something in about a great fire and have a bunch of the buildings burn to the ground or something.
Balance: 4
Well, it's a freebuild isn't it? Not too high, not too low.
Creativity: 4
This was tough. As you said it is out of a book, however I have never read the book but I have to remember it is out of a book so I can't give you full marks can I?
Map Design: 4
Well, this is your first map right? When I started playing it I thought "Geez, this guy aint bad". I like babbling about map design so here I go...
Pros
+ The fords! Thank you so much for not just putting a great huge honking ford in there somewhere. There would be shallow parts and deeper areas and the river looked actually pretty good.
+ The marsh. Good lookin' marsh I spose. Gives you the feel of wet, squishy ground sorta and the oil adds a little too.
Cons
- The quarry stones and the rocks on the right side of the map look a little wierd. Just a little. Add some shrubs, boulders, and make the rocks into little patches with them spaced a tile apart. It's hard to explain.
-It was mostly min height and although you covered it up pretty well with dirt and stones and such it still looked un-natural. Normal ground would have bumps and holes and gullies and such and such and such.
I gave this a bit of a bonus because it is your first. Not enough for a 5 though.
Story/Instructions: 2
Ah, the bane of new designers. Story! A nice, lengthy, well written story is icing on the cake and new designers just never have it. Sit down for a while and force yourself to write. (or type)
Additional Comments: Great for a first, but as maps go could use a little work on the terrain height. I love freebuilds (making them anyway) so I can't wait to see what you come up with. And how's it going with the community map? ;-)

There Was Only An Up An Running Economy Because Without it, It Wouldnt Look Like Carvahall After People Build it. |
