You remember little of the battle, and that which you do remember is the stuff of nightmares. You fought in the densest action, killing countless of the enemy. But it was to no avail. You were driven back to the High Tower where you made your last stand amongst your few remaining friends and soldiers.
You remember nothing beyond this point except waking up in the arms of Father Blackdown, the castle monk. He can tell you nothing of how you survived, only that he found you unconcious on the ground.
Together, you have set off across the great swamp that boarders part of Riverkeep. Emerging on the other side days later, you recognise the surroundings. You have come out near the Hunting lodge and home of Warden Gorlois. But your hopes are dashed early on. The motte and baily that Gorlois calls home has been overrun by enemy forces and a garrison of archers left. Even worse, the hunting lodge and surrounding farms are, even now, about to fall to a band of soldiers. Your only hope is to enlist what aid that Gorlois can offer, and build up a force to take the castle.
