Story:
The Downfall of Antiochia
- The Assassin Chronicles Part 3 -
It has been ten years since the besiegement of Antiochia.
Finally, after many battles, the mighty city fell into the hands of Raimund IV, a French nobleman of Toulouse and General under the holy word of Urban II. Since then, the city experienced peaceful and prosperous times.
As the city comes in sight, you and your comrades dismount in silence.
Rumour spreads that an army has gathered and will soon march against Antiochia. Again the great city will see bloodshed and will be the price for the winner to claim.
And some attacker was clever enough to see that assassinating Lord Raimund will confuse the city and weaken it´s defence.
You feel honoured that the elders gave you the command over this small group of the shadow people, some of their best and most experienced warriors. Some even say that your leadership was highly appreciated by the client. Yet you feel more like a family member than a commander, but with the last missions and with your past history you have earned their respect.
Behind a few trees you notice a shadow lurking. An old woodcutter with his axe. Two of your comrades slip behind him, unnoticed. You had expected the informer to scour around here, but better to be careful. The last thing you need on this mission is an ambush - An ambush you did not perform that is.
As you move in sight, veiled, the woodcutter raises his axe and rams it into the ground, the collusive sign.
The man informs you about the cities weakness. The southern gate, near Raimund´s private palace will suit best for entering. The gate of course is heavily guarded, so you will have to find a way to get into the city.
As you dismiss the informer and turn towards the city you realise that a great task is upon you.
You might cause the downfall of Antiochia.
Aftermath:
It was quite difficult to get into the private chambers of Raimund, yet you wonder why such a city is only so lightly guarded. Moreover if a war is upon, which without doubt will be known among the leaders. You have learned always to expect the unexpected and so you command your comrades to keep watch over the immediate environs of the chambers. As you enter the room without a sound you find a man lying in a huge bed. Without doubt the high Lord himself. In silence you slip beside the bed and soundlessly you draw your blade from the scabbard. Just as you are about to cut the man´s throat, you hear a low sound behind you. Before you can turn around a knife is at your throat. The man behind you is speaking your language: “Drop that knife and don´t move! I would really regret cutting your throat…So you are one of the famous Assassini.”
Very slowly you try to move your fingers into your pocket, where some special herbs are reserved for such a scenario. No one of the Shadow people is to be taken alive. You should have smelled a trap! Now keep the stranger talking until you can reach the herbs.
“You do know nothing about me or the shadow people.”
You think you can hear a little bit amusement in the man´s voice
“At least I know how to catch them.
And don´t get the idea of chewing these herbs you have in your pocket. A suicide would not suit a nobleman´s son…”
That is indeed something unexpected. But the strange man seems to mix you up with someone else.
“I am no nobleman´s son. Who are you ? ”
Suddenly the man releases your throat so that you can turn and face him. You could have killed him in this instant but something inside you wants to hear the answer.
A sad smile meets your eyes.
“I am your father…”
To be continued…
Instructions:
This map is rather difficult and I would recommend it to experienced players. It might take a while and at some points it is better to move every assassin singly.
Tip: Gather them somewhere safe very close to the Lord for a joint strike.

EDIT:
I still have the problem with the Assassins. There are more set in the editor than appearing in the game.
So I increased the number to make them appear more.
Now, there are 9 out of 14 or so in the game which increases the difficulty.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please post! |

It's because of the difficulty levels. It automatically reduces and adds men to both sides to make it easy, normal, hard, or very hard. It's very annoying isn't it? |

This isn't one of those maps I would play twice. It doesn't give you many alternatives for finishing the mission and basicaly you don't do different things to win it. You just try to stay out of site, scale a few walls and even smash some towers
Balance: 5
indeed, the problem with the difficulty level annoyes me too... it is most troublesome when you are facing missing trebs on your towers. I believe you have chosen a right number of troops according to the difficulty of the map. Still I believe that you could win the mission with 7 assassins
Creativity: 3
In my oppinion, creativity is the main problem of this map. Although assassination maps are rare around heavengames, the idea is not so genuine to give a high rating, (and sure isn't yours)
Map Design: 4
this is tha rating i usualy give to a map that although it has a natural appearance, it lacks any eye candy and it is constructed of simple elements.
Story/Instructions: 5
I must agree that good stories are also rare around here, and I believe yours is preety good one. Because I lack the skill or the patience to fully analise your story, I will give you the highest rating
Additional Comments:
As you can see, my comments are kind of tough, and the ratings are preety small. That is because Your map had an overall rating of 5, wich is maximum. The problem with that is that I know a plethora of better maps with lower marks. Plus that, I am the type that believes there has not been a map that deserves a clean 5. |
