The year is 1095 CE, after over 30 years of England being united by William the Conqueror peace is yet not pervasive. The French witness fightings within, involving priests, monks, women, laborers, and merchants. Italy, a collection of city states is constantly being overrun by invaders. And there is the Byzantine empire, ruling from Constantinople by Alexius Comnenus. To his east, turks are rapidly enroaching on his empire, attacking pilgrims on thier way and in Jerusalem causing him great distress. He writes to his friend Robert, the Count of Flanders telling him about the attrocites committed by the turks on the christian pilgrims. Robert passes this letter on to Pope Urban II who personally promotes a holy crusade to reclaim the Holy lands from the barbaric turks. The first Crusade has begun.
The place is Levant, divided into four crusader states of Antioch, Edessa, Tripoli & Jerusalem. It is a small stretch of land that is steeped in religious heritage. The invaders are closing in, burning down most of which stand in their way. What follows is an event filled with war, holy visions, unholy alliances, promises made with fingers crossed, seiges & slaughters.

Starting from where the crusades began. Everyone knows this fact i'm sure. Here i've added roads as a new feature to my maps, but don't be fooled, it's just an eyecandy thing. A good multiplayer and standalone map. Have fun...
