This map is of a Crusader stronghold in Syria icluded is some history of the castle in the info box its hard to defend and difficult to take hope you enjoy and i would like some comments on what you think so later maps can be better or not have the same problems.
The Castle itself is gorgeous - and a great reproduction of the real thing.
DEFENDING: Not much skill needed here. Relocate your pikeman on the walls to more stategic locations, then go get a beer, take out the trash, call your girlfriend, or kiss your wife and come back in 10-15 minutes. You will have won. (I used the pitch field outside the inner gatehouse, but only killed 3-4 swordsmen with it.)
ATTACKING: A pure frontal assault might be more sporting, but I am retired Air Force, so I prefer bombing the hell out of everything I can hit before I send in the grunts. If you move everyone out of ballista range, then sit back and survey the Castle well, you will find a way for trebuchets to clear a path for your main assault. I lost 40% of my troops in my first attempt victory. The majority of those lost were my archers and crossbowmen, whom I used to clear the rooftops of every defending archer and crosbowman I could find along the path cleared by the trebuchets. They all died before they completely cleared the route, but their sacrifice ensured my ensuing march on the Keep would succeed.
