Greetings once again to the whole stronghold community,
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Stronghold Community Campaign: Reign of Fire is now officially released, Here you will find the History and storyline for the beginning of the first map of the campaign and the future Maps as they are released.
Without further talk we give you The Stronghold Community Campaign: Reign of Fire.
Map one: The prophecy. Enjoy
Scene one:
Glasmore Mountains, throne room of King Theogrud:
Splinters of light break through the cave sealing lighting the war-scarred face of King Theogrud, the dwarf ruler has since longed for the time in which he would see the destruction of man and elf alike. Slowly the echo of footsteps becomes louder, and the prophet Glandorlin stands before the great king.
Gromn: ‘My lord….’
Theogrud: ‘Has it been done, has the leveller returned to Kalimdor? Does he rise from the bowls of hell and bring with him the hate of which once spread throughout this land?
Gromn: ‘He does.’
Theogrud: ‘You have done well then, did you peak of our arrangement?’
Gromn: Of course my Lord, the dark prince Scarlak thanks your lordship for returning him to this land, our pact is in blood and the hate we share for both man and elf.’
Theogrud: ‘Very good, come…. Let us drink to the dark lord, and the coming of the alliance. Our time shall soon come.’
They lift their gold plated goblets and drink-the wine-deep crimson- spills down the beard of the great dwarf like blood. He throws the goblet into the darkness and disappears into the shadow.

Great landscape. There is no-where that has bare map, everything is right down to the finest details, great map. Is the camp fire meant to go out?
And about the story: Is The Dark Lord and The Dark Prince the person or is there a difference?[Edited on 07/19/06 @ 07:52 AM]

They are both the same, Scarlak. Just though people would refer to him differently so i mixed it up a bit, keywork Dark so I'm sure they'll catch on. ;)
About the campfire, it stays on if you have the unpatched strongold, It goes out on my version too. :(

Playability: 4
The map plays off real well, with constant need of expanding and altering your economy (delete some superfluos buildings, use the wood to build some other buildings). The short action right at start is probably the funniest part, though =P
My only concern is how the map plays towards the end, with constant thefts, raids and wolf attacks, repeated over and over again. It gives you a nice challenge, but gets very annoying, as each wolf attack brings your food-production down to zero, than you work it up, and then another wolf attack, back to zero. And over again.
Except from that, the map is great fun to play.
Balance: 5
Quite a challenge here, at least for me, who isn't too skilled at managing an economy =P
Anyway, finishing only took me 2 tries (including one restart from a save about half-way through).
The map has some kind of combination of slow-pace, mini-economy managing, and hectic periods, when all kinds of hell (bandits etc.) hit you all at once, which I like. You get time to breathe, but you have to be alert.
And thank God there are no invasions.
Creativity: 5
Of course; the obvious stuff like the campfire, and the massive amounts of snow.
But what I consider to be the most creative part of the map is the actual design. I like the complex system of rivers, streams and creeks. And on to Map Design...
Map Design: 5
Not too surprisingly: a clear 5. Would have rated higher if I could.
WL_D are known for their great design skills, and this map is defenitly no exception from their high standard. Great work guys!
Story/Instructions: 5
Long and detailed, and with a nice and interesting layout (the deviding into scenes).
It'll be a pleasure to try to continue this story =)
Additional Comments:
Great work guys, I can't imagine a better start for the campaign! |

"towards the end, with constant thefts, raids and wolf attacks, repeated over and over again. It gives you a nice challenge, but gets very annoying"
This concerns you? glad you found it annoying that was my plan towards the end of the senario. We made you guys struggle a bit towards the start but then figured some experieced players would like a challenge so i made it very hectic as the map went on.
I thank you very much for your review and kind words:D hopefully the campaign continues and more maps follow on.
Thanks again,
