This is my latest map, it was made a couple of hours ago, it has been tested by me and my brother (my brother lost, obviously :p) up to normal mode and we managed to beat it ^^
Part of the story is given in-game, but the full story is here ;)
As you marched towards your original homeland, stockaded with a village after setting out to finish off the snake you soon realize via a scout that the castle had been taken over a few years ago when you set out by Duc Truffe, and was garrisoned and is still waiting to see a battle.
"My lord, we need to retake the castle otherwise Duc Truffe's reign will become supreme. The mountain acts as a natural defence against intruders and is impassable, what do you think we should do, sire?" Your scribe said, hastily opening a book. " These are the plans we had in-case of emergency, we could of tried the turtle approach, but Sir Longarm hasn't arrived with the reinforcements yet. But, we still have some engineers and tunnelers, we could blast a hole in the wall? That would seem more logical."
" Gather our remaining army, I have a plan. If Duc Truffe has fortified the walls at the far end of the castle, then we might not stand a chance, if he hasn't, then we know that the army has had it's final battle." You said, thinking about the other lords.
"Sire, he has."
You marched towards the location of your former castle, setting up camp and provisioning your troops. You attack in the early morning.
I've made better stoies, although I found it hard to adapt around this plot ^^
Hope you enjoy this, and please comment/rate ^^
Oh btw, try this map on hard/very hard mode ;)

I think that this map delivers fun, but not wrapped in such a "good looking" package... so to speak...
It has quite a high playability, and has a very good balance. There's nothing special about it, it has a typical Strnghold challenge. To breach the wall, and then walk through the city (even though this one is quite small) and kill the king.
Has flaws, but not in balance. Perfect balance, and you know the creator has spent time playtesting it.
A quite weak 3. It has nothing special. But the rivers, and the strategical placement between mountains gives it a 3.
Map Design: 3
I think you could work more with this. Random placed 4x4 rocks has never looked good. The outside of the castle is quite plain as well. But I can see that you have tried.
This is also a weak scoring; its a weak 2. There's a very small text with almost no story at all. Though, the text written - is very good, which gives it a 2. If you wrote more, you could do very, very good stories I think.
I can really see a promising map designer here. He only needs to spend more time on his maps.
