Battle of the Grasslands
By Sir Memi I
(For the rest of the story, read the .doc)
Chosen map size was of 300 x 300... large battles can be fought in a somewhat small area don't you think?
This map was made to be played on Normal difficulty (Easy if you cannot win, I think playing it at Hard is suicide)
Overview:
Prepare yourself for a battle of Gigantic Proportions! Form your ranks wisely, use all of your troops with strategy and resist wave after wave of attacks from that annoying fat Pig!
They say numbers are very important in a frontal battle, but will you be able to survive with a disadvantage of 4-1? Or will you stand triumphal at the end of the day, with pig’s head in a pike? The scenario is ready, pieces are in their places, the battle of Grasslands is about to begin!
Map’s Features:
Incomplete palisade.
Main Tent (Saxon Hall) surrounded by “Good Things”
River and a marsh.
Large portions of Grasslands!
Your Army:
Lord
Elite: 40 Pikemen 10 Swordsmen
Cavalry: 60 Knights
Infantry: 180 Spearmen 100 Fighting Monks 80 macemen
Missile & Other: 24 Crossbowmen 36 Archers 8 Catapults 2 Trebuchets
Total (counting Engineers): 562
Enemy’s Army (Normal difficulty):
Our scouts report that The Pig doesn’t brings any missile unit for this battle, this may well cost him the victory, maybe even his own life!
Elite: about 300
Cavalry: 100 Knights
Infantry: about 1700
Total: (something around) 2100
Messages from the Pig when you kill some of his troops... or when he manages to kill many of your men!
Strategy:
According to the King, this is the main strategy to follow, hope the Knights follow your orders though...
"The main army will form ranks and wait for the enemy to cross the river. There are two main crossing points, one is located to the center, and the other is not too far. Our infantry shall block the pass, while the cavalry should kill any troublemakers. Archers and crossbowmen are in the rear, some behind a "palisade" from where they shall make arrows rain. We had enough time to put our artillery into position, just waiting for the right time to be manned and used. Fire might also work well, even with the river, because rain hasn't showed up for a long time. If the enemy decides to charge, man traps will delay them for some time before our men counter-attack."
We were also told to protect our King, for he has fallen ill due to the long campaign, and might not be able to fight in the battle. I think that even if he is ill, he will fight to death if he needs to. Some reserves and his personal guard are left in the camp to deffend.
I am in charge of the army now, so I shall adapt the fighting strategy according to the situation.
Sir, the Pig is sending a message, shall I open it and read it?
Yes.
Very well my lord...
"Whuurruh, I am coming to kill you, hehe oink oink. So how would you like to die? I have lots of ideas..."
Your worst nightmare,
The Pig |
