Take control of this mining colony and transform it into a secure settlement.
Most resources are avaliable to you, but expect various problems along the way.
The colony has excellent trading links - so use them.
The Wolf's army will attack in full force in 1690.
Be ready!
Playability: quite good, I have had a few attempts at this map and each time I quite enjoyed it. Made a major mistake by deleting walls to make way for some more arty stone structures and the settlement was decimated by the wolf attack (which is enormous, by the way). But still enjoyable. Few events throughout the life of the map, not a hectic scramble but this suits the map fine as this is predominantly about feeding people and producing LOADS of weapons.
Balance: However, and leading on from above, I managed to wipe out the enemy invasion by building stout walls, a few moats and plenty of crossbowmen. This was played on medium setting, per the download summary screen. Whilst I had fun, it was a bit of a let down. Repeated invasions of various sizes over a longer period would have made it a bit more challenging.
Creativity: Again, quite good and I liked the idea of a mining settlement/outpost. But I think 3 is a fair score here.
Map Design: Has always been my favourite section this. Not a bad attempt at all (I am no expert by any means, and it is always easier to comment on other people's work than it is your own), but it was a little rough around the edges. You could achieve multiple iron mines and stone quarries in a more natural setting with a little bit more work. A good 3, if a good 3 were possible.
Story/Instructions: Let down the map a bit as there wasn't much detail to follow. Map reviewing is a personal thing and people do have preferences to what they like and don't like. I do prefer a good write up with lots of information (made up or historical fact). A little short here, though.
Still, overall a good map, plenty to think about and real scope to have a play at castle building, resource management and all out war! Not for all tastes, but enjoyable for me.
