I'll write a story later but I'll tell you the overview. Your in a ruined castle collecting pitch and iron to win while Arabians armies attack you. Pretty simple...
"What a dump!". You yell after you take a good look at the ruins of a castle. "So this is the famous castle that held out against the Arabs?" your sec. in command says. "Yes, it is." You were ordered to reconstruct the ruined castle by your superior because a massive arab incursion is cutting a bloody swathe through Edessa. They have took down major castles in their way and now they are racing with you to the castle and you won the race. So now a huge Arab force will be coming and you have little time to rebuild the castle walls. One thing is for sure. It's going to be a long day!
This map matches it's title: a long day. It takes a long time to build up your little castle, and then a even longer time while your little peasants walk around the map carrying pitch and iron. I left the computer for several minutes whihe I waited for recorce to be gatherd. But that does not mean you are completly bored. You need to build up your smal army and ruined castle to defend yourself aginst an attacking force, and defending your castle is a thill.
For the first 9 years everything is easy, and your castle is almost screwed, and your gathering peasants ate definatly dead. For 4 years. THen the invasions cease, and things are smooth sailing. It would be better if the invasions ware spread out, at least allowing your to gather some recorces.
A recorce gathering map occors rarely. That's really it.
Map Design: 3
The map is degisined nicely, but the look of the stome and iron really brought the score down. Next time, dont place a large chunk of these recorces. Spread them out. Also, there was not enough oasis to support your population. One thing that looked nice was the hill leading up to the castle. The trees on it are a nice touch.
No a great story, but it gets the job done. And that's all that counts (with me at least)
You NEED story. A good story could bring you up to a 3.4. Leave ma a comment.
