When two hands meet:

The most powerful messages can come from the simple decision to shake hands. When two hands meet, we pass on something of ourselves. It's the easiest of gestures; an entwining of thumbs and fingers as our hand glides into another. But the simple handshake has a potency few of us stop to consider. It's power first came home to you on an autumn day. Under the direct command of your king, you have established a distant settlement, an outpost to station a few army fighting in the highlands against the arabains in the south.For constant supplies from the east, you have promised a neighbouring kingdom a fair trade and sanctuary in exchange for food essentials. Over the course of time, the neighbour becomes a ally strongly supporting the outpost by constructing small lookout towers south. For a neutral in a war, Lord Danvell shows substantial interest but only to reveal his true intensions.

March 11, an early morning: news of the last lookout towers that have just finished arrives to you when the south gates open. "The men are here!" A week long march to Granolla. It's a night's rest for the them before they head south to Nie Cias, a stronghold which is under a concerntration of arabian invasions. Most of it's fortifications have been brought down. It's not long before they start to attack Granolla.

Lookout post 1 : It's late evening. A total of eight archers and some pikemen guard the tower. Archer Jake Pelt just finishes his meal when he hears a thud. "Hear that?" he calls out to his friend in the rear. After a few seconds or so there's a crack and something hit's the tower hard. Wedging himself to a corner "Siege weapons!"

The following night, a troop of more than five hundred arabians invade Granolla. Yes it survives the invasion. But it is a farcry from victory as you find out that it was Lord Danvell's men who attacked the lookout towers. An ally who betrayed the trust of the alliance for riches. Most of what's destroyed is rebiult. But there will be more invasions to come. Defend Granolla.

lollard97367 Brilliant!!! Nice barracks/tower trick in the castle.

The lord needs to be reset on player 1 so there is a king to die for the lose condition. Unending otherwise. I will delete this comment if fixed. :)

Sorry 'bout that!! Did the lord dissapear?? must hav done that while erasing the keep time to time. Will look into that.....thanks lollard

This is my first submision of an invasion map. Bit rusty. So suggestions, tips, are welcome.


Updated: (My computer crashed..again!) So i didn't get a chance to playtest it properly. Hope the update works fine

k4pod Playability: 4.5
The invasions are small, but each one is managed efecently and quickly, witch I am still struggling on. Each invasion is also sceldued with another event, which usally requires you immeadiate attention. On my first try, I made the mistake of thnking the archers in some of the towers were safe, but was crestfallen when they were killed by raging macemen.

Balance: 4.5
The first invasionitself was a bit hard, and eacgone, got harder and harder, especaly when you guessed incorrectly where each one was somming from. If it wasn't for teh archer reniforcements that arived, I whould have failed misreybly. The last battle was intence, using a wide vriaty of siege weapons.

Creativity: 4.5
Creativity is such a hard topic, both for the degisner and reviewer. Why even read this nonsence?

Map Design: 5
Wow. This map really raised the bar. From the landscape to castle, everything looked natural, but not like something you would see in the "real world". The gentle curves and fountains of the castle gave it a style that really shows thought on the degisn (and, strangely, reminded me of a bettle.). The landscape looked natural, and limited the recouces the player can use. This map, if anything else, should be downloaded just so you can see it.

Story/Instructions: 4
The story was good, but there was some strange sentences and was written ok.

Additional Comments:
My favorite skirimish degisiner (that I've seen) makes a invasion. It doesn't get much better.

Thanks K4pod and SinisterWing for the great reviews. i now know It really takes more time to make invasion maps than skirmishes.

Well, he didn't explain at all

I guess the castle and lanscape design was the reason for the above average ratings.

This is one of the most beautiful and best maps ever submitted.

My only knock is that invasions can only come from the south, which means that defenses only have to be placed to the south. More signposts increase the difficulty and the fun.

I thought the scenario was a cake walk. The invasions are too far apart, and easily

The city is pretty unbelievable.

The story is great. It just doesn't match the scenario very well.

I agree. the invasions seem to come only from the south.The map could use more signposts. Well, Granolla's my first invasion map, so dont expect pure perfection.
