The fourth installment of the "D" series. Its called that till I get a better name. Now in Ireland, you need to "convince" the local lords to take you in. "Convince" away. You start with almost nothing on a tiny coast, and must defeat the four local lords. The other "D" files are Discovery, Distrust and Denial, located a few pages back.
Now the first thing that I thought when I saw this map was the word "average". It's not bad, but it could be a whole lot better.
This score was awarded because of the rarity of the the events. There was only anapple blight and a few bandit attacks, oh and one fire. To spice this map up you could have done some things like food theft, Wolves, a large invasion, rabbits, a cow plague, whatever. Just give it a bit more pace and excitement. The ere needs to be more events, spun closer together. On the aspect of taking on the enemy, I quickly took done the Rat, and feeling rather bored (not much scripting!) decided to take on the Wolf, and won in one go! Too easy for a bit of tension sadly.
As mentioned above, this map was just too simplistic and easy. At no point in time during the game did I feel worried or anxious. It was downhill all the way. Some suggestions to make the map harder would be to some stronger fortifications, some more troops and a bit of pressure on the player in terms of scripting would bump this up to a five.
Well there was nothing really new or interesting or creative, this was "average".
Map Design: 3
This is the area that I am most fussy about, so prepare for a lecture! Firstly, the terrain is much too bare in my opinion. Add some more stones, rocks, dirt and grass to liven it up and make it a bit more interesting. Next is the actual shape of the land. It looks rather unatural to have just a specific bit sloped or to have it all the same height, especailly with cliffs. Have a small variation of height spread throuout the map. The same thing goes for cliffs. Also some eyecandy would'nt go astray either.
A couple of paragraphs really isnt a long enough story. Improve on it!
Frankly I don't think you are trying your hardest. Spend a little more time on your maps.
