Tiers is a world in a universe created by Phillip Jose Farmer. In this universe a family of near immortals is able to create a series of pocket universes where natural law varies from universe to universe. Incidently, Earth is one of these Universes. Tiers is a world that is built like a stepped pyramid or ziggurat with the ruler with on the top tier. In this story the rightful Lord has been evicted from his home, by a family member, and finds himself on the lowest tier. To regain his rightful place he must fight his way back to the top. My advice is to place Wolf on top tier allied with Richard, Fredrick or Saladin on the middle tier. You of course are free to play anyway you like. If you want more of a story buy THE WORLD OF TIERS by Phillip Jose Farmer and get a good read. Von Kamstra |

Von Kamstra’s map is suppose to look like that. If you actually knew what a stepped pyramid or ziggurat was, then you may not have made such a stupid comment.
Dido… Why don’t you take some time and read through this:

Dido most of my maps are realistic, see A Tale of Five Cities or The Tripartite War. This map was an attempt on my part to represent an artificial world from a science fiction/fantasy novel. If you want realistic almost all of my 24 maps are quite realistic. I urge you to download and play some of them. I too admire and enjoy surajubbas maps but would not want to copy anyone but rather try to make original maps of my own. I hope this explains my thinking about map making.
Sincerely,

Pay no attention to him, Von Kamtra, he's just plain rude sometimes. I personally liked the desgin of your map. I would rate, but I have about 5 other maps I'm playing right now. I promise, I'll get to it when I can.[Edited on 11/29/06 @ 10:16 PM]

Hi VonKamstra!
A pretty long title..
Good to see u're making more maps. I'll definitely download this map. Will play as suggested. But hav to say by the time one plans to attack the wolf, he'll already have gained above +8000 gold. SO its going to be a good game i presume. Most of your maps have only a few bendy routes to reach a castle which are not accessible from every angle....I noticed. This map's certainly going to be a tough king of the hill battle.
Thanks for the map

Dido I am not angry, I am just trying to explain why the map is the way it is. In the Universe of Tiers natural law is applied differently in each world and grass etc would be found on the different levels or not exist at all. This a fantasy world which could not exist in the real universe.
Surajubba you are right. I like to build an economy first without being subjected to attack before you can build a bazaar or whatever. I suggested putting Wolf on top as he can be a strong opponent, but only if given time to develop. I am also beginng to run out of ideas for maps or I probably wouldn't be borrowing ideas from novels. It is a long title but I wanted to give credit to the orgin of the idea, besides it helps draw attention to the map(LOL).

At first i thought i'd be a normal difficulty map seeing that plenty of grasslands were provided. But as i started to play, i found out that it was a pretty hard map even at a minimum computer advantage.
There were farmlands on either side for the lower player along with stone and iron rather distant to the keep. This created the difficulty even more. There was a confusion on where to take the stockpile. The Wolf was safe from any attack from me. But the melee troops of Richard and Saladin kept on destroying my economy. Careful defense was paramount. There were three routes to reach the first platue. One in fornt(which i blocked with moat) and one on either side.
General i prefer to weaken the adversaries economy before a mass invasion. It was a good game.

Because it is base on a novel, so i won't say anything about "Bad design, too ziggurat, etc"
For playabilty, it's a very nice to play with wolf in the top and saladin richard. Wow, so hard. Because the iron and farm so so far from my keep. So i must use move tactic :( i still trying to finish this game. For balance, who care. Because you have put it unbalance. I will complain if the map said balance, but it's not. for creativity nice idea to copy a universe by phillip jose. map design, whos care? it's base on the novel. and story, nice description!
well, i will busy to finish this map.
oh yeah could you rate my map Lombok, East Java, Japan and Hilia?
