Your lifelong friend, Duc Beldegarde, has recently been framed for the murder of the queen, by Duc Rontrez. In a rage the king orders his dukes to march on Beldegarde and to bring him his body in quarters. Only you know the truth, having heard of Duc Rontrez's schemings from your most trusted man-servant. You side with the Duc Beldegarde and dig in for a bloody seige...
I designed the map using Wolf as Duc Rontrez in the top left corner, hidden behind all the other lords, to his south and west I placed two Lionhearts. At the bottom-left and top-right corner of the map I placed two Saladins, and I placed another Wolf in the middlemost keep of the map. You and your ally of choosing are meant to play in the bottom-right corner of the screen. You can of course change things up, but this was the original set-up that I designed the map around.
As an aside, this is an awesome map to play with friends. |

Dido,
I feel I should tell you something about my name. The friend who gave me this game knows a lot about computers, a lot more than I do, so he thought it would be funny when he gave it to me to have the default name be officer dick, as opposed to lord stronghold or whatever it's supposed to be. So no matter how many times I change the name, each time I start Stronghold again it comes up with the same name -- that is reason behind my online name. |

Playability: 5
I played as suggested, and found this to be fun! Your constantly attacked, and its especially challenging when you diversify your enemies. This reminds me of the last level on the first crusader trail, where you have to fight many enemies at once. Moats really help on this map.
Balance: 4
Game play balance is good, normally I don't like this much iron and stone, but you'll need it with this many enemies.
Creativity: 4
Good creativity, it's the good story that enhances this scenario's creativity.
Map Design: 3
Decent, but could have been better, I though. I'm not necessarily against perfect geometric layout, but I do think it takes away from the realism of a map, and this is one of those scenarios could do without it. The map could do with a little more polishing on the details. Try feathering the oasis and adding more shrubbery. Stone and iron is in giant clumps as well. Most of the time maps tend to look better when iron/stone is laid out realistically. Lollard, Surisjubba, Pat Dark Knight, BSR, and many others do a great job at iron and stone placement. Check out their maps, it helped me way back when I started making maps.
Story/Instructions: 4
Good story with a lot of potential. A little short, you could have really gone wild with it!
Additional Comments:
I may sound critical on my reviews, but trust me, your doing an outstanding job. I like your maps, and they're great for first submissions[Edited on 12/31/06 @ 01:41 AM]
