Demier's Last

Author File Description
File Details
Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Normal

The Carneith region of Demier has seen many conflicts of kingdoms. Every kingdom had different approach to the crisis, conditioned by experience and resources and how battles were mounted far from the stronghold.

Since the turn of the decade, there have been constant battles with the approaching Bolargian armies. The enemy had become a major threat even to the allied kingdoms. While to the north the Selier regions of Demier had become a cause of dispute. By the end of September 1299, the king of Demier declared “Tactical success” in the battle for the disputed land. Around 1500 enemy troops had died or had been wounded in the vicious fighting with the frontline forces supported by the allies. While improvements on the effectiveness of battlements were welcomed b new frontline troops, the long-term prospects remain to be seen. The campaign now enters a very different phase, with the desperate battles to sustain detachments of troops and support the citadel of Carneith.

Year 1300 Present day

The citadel of Carneith is under heavy attacks and with the delayed re-enforcements, it’s not long before it will be under the Bolargian authority. Demier is under real danger. An order comes from the king to send some troops and capture their castle located near the Gailre lakes and wait for re-enforcements from the allies. An attempt to bar the enemy’s way from the west.

This is a cede scenario. In order to capture the enemy castle, you will have to kill all enemy units. A few restrictions. The map might just be a little harder than the normal difficulty.

Lord Karpathea Another wonderful map by surajsubba! Ever since I saw the preview, I was looking forward to downloading this map. I was not dissapointed at all. Well, almost........

Major issue: Balance. The problem for me was not taking the castle, I managed to pull it off. The problem was the invasions. They weren't hard. They were more interested in destroying the walls of the city, and it was all too easy to pick them off one by one. Sometimes, when there is no clear path to the keep (i.e. lowered stone path), the enemy AI is more lax about attacking. Other than this, absolutly no problems. Map and city design were spectacular. Story was good in length, description was sufficiant. Kudos and keep designing!

Wow thank u very much L_K for the review.

The lowered walls do pose some problems. In fact they do in many maps. Especially for the invading horsemen, sometimes they just get stuck or find difficult to find the route. I didn't use much engineer for the invading forces coz there aren't much towers in the castle so sometimes they just stay idle.

Update: Playtested the map again. Removed moat around the castle. Reduced gold. Increase no of invading troops

Thank u very much for the detailed review Dark Nero. The map still has bugs. But i was more worried about the balance part. Like Lord_Kapathea said i too faced similar problems concerning AI funtion. Most of the invading troops wouldn't go for the keep, instead they'd start bring down the walls.

Again thanks for the review
Dark NeRo Well I didnt have the problems, as I destroyed most of the streets and the ramps moving around to the keep. So for me there were no bugs and the AI worked very nice.
Sokrates I will not tell how nice it is, other people do that. There is only fence from dairy farm- how did you make that? If you answer, thank you.

I dont think map-making should be discussed here. But since u asked. I've submitted a utility map "Editor tricks 2" in the utility section discussing such designs.
