You trying to avoid war so you moved your kingdom into the mountains. On your journey there you hear stories form travelers about a ancient tribe that died out some were in the mountains long ago and come back from the dead to kill near by wanderers. You take no heed of their warnings. Your foolish not to believe! There will be “Bloody Mountains”!
A really tough map! It took me 45 game years to beat it. It puts you through your paces to repel the repeatedly occuring invasions.

Hell over a Hill
This is not a map to finish in one hour or two; First, get rid of the lions then set up a strong defensible position … easily spoken? No, by no means! The building of walls, gates and towers that will hold back the constant onslaughts is quite a challenge. In my first attempt, I got totally overwhelmed because of my carelessness. After changing my strategy and a lot of improvising, I finally got through it. I don’t know how often I had to rebuild the quarries nearby until I managed to stage an efficient defense there as well. It’s also hard to set up your food production in the early stages. The terrain provides no real natural defenses and that makes you think and plan your economic and military development carefully by not making it easy. It doesn’t matter if you set up your stockpiles closer to the stone/iron or food areas, when the enemy comes, they’re coming for your head!
By the way, great choices of which units, buildings and defenses you have access to. I had lots of fun when seeking and eliminating the hidden assassins outside on the hills.
Yes, that’s it! It is a well-balanced and challenging map and an almost perfect combination of economic requirements and military tactics to withstand the invasions and to feed or please your growing population. With regard to a successful proceeding, it’s essential how to survive the early years, and the invasions are large and tend to attack on two fronts with a nice balance of units.
I liked the concept of finding ways and means to keep your economy up and to clear the entire map while slowly strengthening your defense. The ongoing onslaughts, though a bit boring in the course of time, stopped immediately after killing the enemy Lord, well done!
You are facing a mainly hilly terrain, realistically modeled and decorated with some tiny oases embedded into a sparse and rough looking desert. Your keep’s starting position borders on a small green patch of land just providing limited space for food production. Your hunters may not be very efficient on tracking the scavenging antelopes down, since various enemy snipers are scattered around over the hills. There’s a nice bridge leading across a lake (or whatever it may be), with some patrolling guards on it, but not passable for any type of unit.
Apart from a few minor spelling mistakes, the story is fairly short, not gripping and substantially poor, but basically right.
I loved this map. However it’s a time-consuming but challenging tough scenario, and very recommendable to the more experienced players.
