Sir Ravenclaw The minimap looks good. But may I ask, what on earth did I do? :p
younghappy IIRC he made an advice thread on mountainous terrain. It seems that you have used this advice well, very nice looking mini-map.

it seems some people have a bad memory, but hey it's no big deal. thanks for the comments

I didn't say why but the wood wall behind the castle will be used in the first invasion version of the map. and if i can i'll have the story hopefully this week.

I was just thinking, i didn't give stone for the start but then realized that as long as you get the market up and the qaurries going it won't be a problem.

Lord Tanthos
Map Design5.0
Playability: 4
Plenty of space, and the "rebuilding" theme was quite enjoyable. However, this is a freebuild you can only really play once or twice.

Balance: 4
A few too many wolves to begin, and I had a tad of signpost "lazy invasion" from all the walls, towers, ect. Other than that, good show.

Creativity: 5
To be honest, a freebuild with an "indirect objective" is always top hole with me. I got the feeling that I was sent to "rebuild the stronghold". And that I did, with an invasion by the Wolf to follow! :D

Map Design: 4.5
Good detail, the top-right mountain was a bit dashed plain, but beyond that twas jolly good. I have a 4.5 here for some big bland areas, but I rounded the actually rating up to 5, being the positive chap I am, what?

Story/Instructions: 3
There were no instructions on the map itself. But since there's a pretty obvious story in the name itself, I upped one point. Noticed the "story coming" statement as well, bumped another 1 point. May check back later and increase story rating if you do manage to do that.

Additional Comments:
I have no clue how long that castle must've blasted well taken to plan, build, and ruin! I applaud that however, top hole! By the way, I saw some of the "invisi-geers". Engineers used to wreck the castle that managed to escape disbandment and made to the signpost. If you really want to banish them, you can use the sav-to-map trick to get rid of them. they don't appear in the editor, you see.

Anyway, top notch and jolly good show! Churn out more like this an' you'll be on the way to more high ratings. :)

I did try to thin out the wolves some, the ones in the iron mines (on the map) east of the castle i tried to keep. since there were wooden gatehouses there you could keep them locked up till you were ready.

I'm curious, how large did you set the invasion(s) and how far did they get? this will help with getting the invasion version out quicker. Thanks for the fine review, it'll catch the eyes of a few ;)

strongholder nl this map is awesome. but for the invasion map i would like to give you some advise.
you can't complete the castle. i mean there are 5 or 6 places where you can't rebuild the castle. it is mostly just a pit of wal nothing serious but one of the destroyed defence turrets next to the gate is blocked.
it is a real weak spot if you would lose that tower.
it is no more work then 5 min i guess.

Greetings Castlefreak I was scrooling around the freebuilds when your map caught my eye a trullly magnificent display of grace might I add.

Playability: 5
There was a lot of open space to build and I have a lot of fun expanding the city.As Lord Tanthos mentioned you can only play this map once or twice but I don't think this drags down the overall score.

Balance: 4
In the start the wolves were a bit of anoyance and they were too close for comfort.Other than that everything was OK.

Creativity: 5
The creativity is the reason why I wrote this rating it is an outstanding castle with a wonderful design (even if it is destroyed)Not many come up with such good looking castles. The thing that I love about your castle is that it is in someway fantastic like in stories but it is also possible to build such a castle. There are a lot of castles at SHH that are fantastic but figuratively speaking they cannot be actually constructed and can only exist in ones dreams.

Map Design: 4
The nature was pretty good and it is a kind of relaxed feeling a small river nice mountains (wolves) actually one of the mountains looked a bit fake so it's a 4.

Story/Instructions: 2
Well mate I didn't see any story or instructions in the dl section or in the zip file so I think you understand why this is a 2.

Additional Comments:
As I say this castle is unique one of a kind in it's category and I do hope that you make such castles in the future.

thanks for the review. yes i understand why you rated some of it as you did, so it's not a big deal. i thank you, however, for the comments (i didn't think that this could've been built in real life, but i see that now. it can).

for the mountain that looked fake, if it was the one directly behind the castle, that was (when i first started getting done) the orginal spot the player would start at. i had thought of making this a invasion...

if you would like, and i if i get enough demand, i might actually finish the story i started and take the time and effort needed to make an invasion... if you would like to, BMC, would you like to play test this when i start making an invasion of it?
