Many moons have passed since you settled here. The gods have kept their promises, granting prosperity and happiness to your people. You're also doing a brisk business trading pitchers of the magic water to the local natives. All is well. Until now...
You have just heard that the Wolf King, who also survived the tragedy of Atlantis, has learned of the existance of the Fountain of Youth. True to his violent nature, he has sent his army of wolves, witches, and fireflys marching towards you. His generals have orders to eradicate you and claim the fountain for him. Your small band of followers could not hope to defend against such a powerful horde. Given time, you would be overwhelmed.
But all is not lost. Your Astrologer predicts that, in five years time, the planets and stars will align themselves in a conjunction, and his magical powers of control will be gone. His army will melt away into the wilderness.
Your goal is clear. Find a way to keep yourself and your people alive for the next five years and victory will be yours. Just don't get yourself killed!
About: This is the second of a series of missions that take place around the Fountain of Youth. They are designed to be small, short, and played in sequence. Add the scores together to measure your success.
Many thanks to the following individuals for allowing me to steal their ideas:
Inquizative, for the waterfall;
Kolja Silvania, for the secret passages.

Playability: 3
Hmm, those fires were really, really annoying. I felt like a pyromaniac was on the loose, it was just fire after fire after fire, but all in that - I only needed one well to save my apple orchards, of course I deleted a few orchards to stop them from spreading.
The objectives weren't too hard to complete, although I lost track of time half way through - as I couldn't see the objectives. All I saw was 'Objective'. How did you do that?
Balance: 4
As I said earlier, very annoying with those fires.
The wolf attacks were fine, perfectly balanced on the attacks - even with only a small amount of archers.
Also with the effect of the wolves bringing a -3 to popularity each month, it made it seem as if people hated them.
I must admit, my popularity did go under 50 quite often.
Creativity: 5
Fantastic! This is the first map I've seen where wolves actually attack you as invasions, along with the storyline it is an incredible feat to witness!
Map Design: 4
Same as the last map, quite dull and all. But because of the secret caves and stuff I raised it to a 4 ;)
Story/Instructions: 5
Again, an awesome story - long and get's to the point!
Additional Comments:
This map has the most creativity I suppose, I look forward to seeing more maps by you ;) |

Version 1.02 Update.
In response to Sir Ravenclaw's excellent review, I 've made some modifications to the map. I've added a win timer display and a new victory requirement. Now not only does the player have to survive, you must also give your people an acceptable level of happiness and contentment amongst all the chaos. Your people's happiness is the key to your power (just ask any politician). ;)
I also tweaked the forces a little. The wolves are a little nastier now and you start out a little weaker.
The changes between the maps in the series are subtle (perhaps a bit too subtle) but they are there. Zoom in to the lower left corner of each map for an example. There are six major differences in this map from the start map of Fountain of Youth I. Can you spot them? I'll post the answers after I receive a second review. How's that for a sneaky way to get folks to review you submissions? ;)
Thank you for your interest.

:) As for the slight changes in the bottom left corner.
The leave of the chestnut tree has turned into green. A bear has been replaced by a pack of wolves (corresponding to the threat). On the other side of the ford the tree is still the chestnut, however its little "shoot" is growing at a different spot. While in map I there were six bushes around the keep, some miss in map II where now 4 buildings illustrate the young settlement. |
