Fountain of Youth IV

Author File Description
File Details
Map Size: 160x160 (Tiny)
Difficulty: Normal
Eureka! You found it! The fabled Fountain of Youth! Where DeSoto failed, where Cortez failed, where Pizarro failed, you have succeeded! You are the greatest Conquistador of them all! Wait till the history books find out about this!

But don't start dancing in the streets paved with gold just yet. A rival Conquistador, Sebastion Nicholas Alberto Karlos de Escambria (you like to call him "Snake" because it irritates him) has his eye on your discovery. He killed the messenger you sent to the King telling of your find and now intends to come and claim it for himself. Befitting his usual modus operendi, he has hired some local tribes to harass you until he arrives with his main force.

From experience, you know there are only two ways to take care of him: either raise enough gold to pay him off; or gather the materials needed to build your own stronghold. But your small band of troops would be no match for him.

Either way, you're going to need the help of the strange tribe of blue-eyed natives you found here. But will they? They seem to think you're some kind of god, and the welcoming party they threw when you arrived certainly expressed their feelings of warmth towards you.

Either way, you're going to have to act fast. The Snake is coming!

About: This is the fourth in a series of missions taking place around the Fountain of Youth. They use the same map and are designed to be small, short, and played in sequence. Add the scores together to measure your success.

Many thanks to the following individuals for allowing me to steal their ideas:
Inquizative, for waterfall design;
Kolja Silvani, for secret passages;
Kester, for fountain design and irrigation.

Dido The 3rd and the 4th versions of Fountain of Youth looks same!
Sparrow No, the minimaps for III and IV look quite different, Dido. Have another look.
Sir Ravenclaw I'll review your 'campiagn' maps later, got school now. I enjoyed it :)
Dido I think we have different minds Sparrow! You look them again and you'll see that they are from one map! Please don't ban me!!!;-(
Sparrow I don't think I worded my previous comment that well, Dido. Sorry about that. Fountain of Youth I, II, III, and IV are indeed based on the same map. But note they are different variants with a progressive storyline. Each map is actually different. PWRmad noted this in his description.
younghappy Nice looking map. And yes the terrain is the same but each map has more stuf added to it. Maybe a map pack would've been more suitable for this, I don't know, but the maps are still pretty good.
Sir Ravenclaw Playability: 3
This map was not as fun to play as the others, although this map had two winning options - only two plays were what I played and afterwards I thought that I might aswell go to another map.

The attacks were fairly average size, the amount was nicely balanced too.

Balance: 3
The objectives were too easy to reach, I prefered the gold option - it was quicker.

The attacks from The Snake were just balanced finely, not great but not too bad ;)
The economy could flourish abit too much here, but it was enjoyable none-the-less.

Creativity: 3
Almost the same as the last map, although - I noticed the fountain, added a little spark to the area near the keep ;)
I also liked the way the small tower near the marketplaced changed from map-to-map ;)

Map Design: 4
Mmkay, the map design could of been better - but I think I gave low scores on the other reasons, so I'll make this a 4 to bring up the score a little ;)
The castle wall was quite nice to look at ;)

Story/Instructions: 5
End of the story, an incredibly unique storyline to it - I liked the Snake's real name ;)

Additional Comments:
These maps are good for a beginner, I look forward to some more of your maps :p
Dido But Sparrow for me this is quite stupid! He must finish his map and that's all!Not submiting it after periods of time! This is like spamming I think!Anyway...He should submit only the 4th version, because the other 3 are unnecessary! ;-/
Sulis Dido, this is not spamming. An author has the right to submit multiple maps based on the same landscape if he or she wishes. Jayhawk did just this years ago with his 'St Brigid's Falls' series of maps. I have done something similar myself. If the maps genuinely are different, then there is no problem in this approach.

The forums are the place to discuss maps submitted to the downloads, not the review comments attached to the download.

Lord Sean i havn't played this series... yet but i dont see why Dido think the other maps are not needed, it is a story line. yes a map pack would of been better but he didn't. thats that though.

anyway from the story line and minimap this looks like a top class map.
