Story:
The hill know as Ironfort has been an ancient pagan sacrificial place, where man and animal where slain for the favor of the gods. Later the romans used it as a place to keep away the lunatic and madman. On the dark ages a wicked lord built here a stronghold and tried to evoke the gods of old with pagan rituals, and was pursued by the inquisition, that has made his keep a holy place where the heretics and blasphemers are burnt and tortured to save their soul. When the england army takes hold of the surrounding lands the king asks that the priests stop their bloddy work, but they refuse the british church and the king.
Now the king sent forth an army to take over and cleanse the keep.
Design
I wanted to make a small and solid castle, with a very old swamp used as a moat to slow down incoming troops. The wooden walls around are remnant of the old roman prision (despite being roman it was very badly built). The keep itself was built in the dark ages.
I could beat the map on Normal as usual, but I think that very Hard, both as defender or attacker, is nearly impossible, I could defend on normal with a score of 13500 and attack with a score of 7500 at best. Share your results and strategy, I'm very curious how you might beat this map (not that it's impossible, but I'd like to know :) ) |

Thanks for the compliments all, I look foward to your reviews :)
FroobaChoob, I indeed like sieges as they are easier to make (i.e. you don't need an economy) and I can playtest them pretty quickly.
Cheers,

Playability: 5
One argument: I really enjoyed playing this siege. Being a siege-addict, I feel that sieges are underrated (it's all invasions). Only one small bug (well, cheat is a better discription). The delete-the-stairs-cheat, if defending. But I only did it once ;) reminds me of the killer-tactic used on gluecksburg: Delete all stairs, destroy the gatehouse ...and ... fire in the hole!!!! Have you ever seen 300 burning spearman running around?
Balance: 4
The map is labelled as hard and it is. Both attacking and defending. When I attacked I had only 15 pikeman left ... so
Creativity: 4
I give 5's to maps which are I-never-saw-that-before. I find this map to be very creative.
Map Design: 5
Very good indeed. You have very good terraining skills. The castle looks very good too. Both (terrain and castle) are very well integrated into eachother.
Story/Instructions: 5
What can I say?
