Story:
You are now a retired general. A hero within the lands. You have decided in your retirement to start a retreat for soldiers and lords to relax. This castle retreat is in a county where volcanoes have heated some the the ground water. This is perfect for your needs however four of your former but yet powerfuls foes wants revenge and may not let your retire......
Map: This is a straight invasion map. Getting the volcanoes in the map to smoke was the greates challenge in building the map.
I have conquered this map however the final wave of the invasion is huge and will take prep work to push back.
I hope everyone enjoys this map as much as I had fun making it.
Playability: Lots of fun to play I really liked the siege engines in this scenario. The large group of crossbowmen provided good cover for the trebuchets and catapults. Even the battering rams and siege towers were effective threats which I have not found in most scenarios I have played. After the first invasion I was either fighting or rebuilding the defenses.
Balance: A well balanced map. I found the invasions well timed and just about the correct size (they could have been the slightest bit bigger). All in all though I found this map a challenge and therefore fun to play.
Creativity: Nothing in this map stood out to me as unique. But I did however, like the beginning set up for the buildings and towers.
Map: I am torn with this element. While I found the special points well done ( the fountain and the shrine area), the terrain of the rest of the map was lacking. It seemed the elevations were a little blocked and uniform making the map seem unnatural. The iron and stone deposits also seemed a little thrown together. Breaking them up more with terrain and vegetation features would have made this map look nicer. I did like the restrictive terrain around the keep area.
Story: If found this OK but nothing of note
The fighting element I found to be well done and the map was overall fun to play.
