Before 1326 yers a king called Asparuh tryed to take control of the lands south of river Dunav, north of Egei sea west of Black sea and east of Adriatic sea.His first battle was at the village Varna on the Black sea agains emperor Nikifor from Byzantia.Well...Here we are.FIGHT!!!
The map was enjoyable, and I had fun doing a 1 v 3, which is hard considering someone is right next to you.
Too much of anything is never good. The amount of resources on the map was, shall we say, too much. The ideal Skirmish map has about enough space for 10 wheat farms, 3-5 quarries, and 2-4 iron mines per player, with varying (small) amounts of oil. Also, having keeps that close can cause the AI a lot of grief, but I'm not marking off points for that, because you can simply ally the two AI's together.
Good show on using some historical references (regional perhaps, but there still). Byzantium especially, which is a very cool place.
Map Design: 2
Brush up on this. Place cacti (cactus plants) rocky soil, driven sand, and elevation variations to make the desert areas look more realistic. Make resources blend to the landscape better, and use less of them. Place rocks and such around quarry stone and iron, and put water ponds and trees and plants in Oasis. Also, make things in smaller clumps and use smaller brush tiles, they always make the terrain look better :)
And one thing to always remember, water never goes uphill in basic natural occurences. So don't place any hills or waterfalls right in the center of a river.
Fair story, short 'n' sweet,
With Byzantium in the beat.
(Yeah I know, that rhyme gets a 2 rating)
Good work for a skirmish map, just brush up on using "brush" and other such things. Also remember the resources advice.
