Introduction to the world of Redwall:
Information on the world of Redwall, which is composed entirely of human-like animals, can be found in the description of my Mossflower Woods Freebuild upon which this mission (and the sequels) are based.
This mission, Assault on Castle Kotir, is the first of a four mission series which describes some very important or interesting periods in Redwall's history.
---------------------------------------------
From the journal of an unnamed woodlander during the Greeneyes Overlordship:
It has been years since the Wildcat lord Verdauga Greeneyes and his host of rodent and weasel troops siezed control of this land. Mossflower Woods were once free, and the surrounding countryside unoppressed. Things had been hard for us, our crops are taken, and food is stolen. Verdauga Greeneyes was a far more just ruler, considering that he is evil; but when his daughter Tsarmina Greeneyes took over, it has been even worse. Now Tsarmina publicly tortures the ones believed to be "traitors to the crown", has her soldiers raid our houses, and takes our children as court slaves. We have since fled, every mother's son, their mothers, and their daughters. This cat will drown in her own black blood!
We of the CORIM (Council Of Resistance In Mossflower) are finally ready to attack Tsarmina's fortress, using several new tricks we have devised:
We have flooded the mangy cat's castle! By diverting the River Moss into the depression in which the castle is built, we are slowly turning it into a lake!
Martin the Warrior, our mouse leader, has a friend from the north called Timballisto who has showed us how to build catapults.
(Actual character name in the book, no copyright issues, except this whole map I guess ;) )
Our good mole friends, or as they would call themselves: "gurt moler fr'enders". can dig tunnels for us, which can be used to collapse the enemy walls!
Also, the accursed Tsarmina is trapped in her upper floors in her keep! The prim puss, the milk kitten, is strangely afraid of water, and refuses to get her paws into it. I laugh at her misery to see all of this water flooding her castle.
Now, we march for Castle Kotir! We must move quickly, however, for supplies are lacking, and winter will be upon us soon, we do not want to be caught without food or shelter at wintertime in the midst of a siege!

This mission is quite hard, and intended for experienced players. However, it is still possible on the Very Hard level.

HINTS:
1: Choose the side from which to attack carefully. You have time to move from side to side.
2: Use shields effectively, smash your missile units together so that only three or four shields are required.
3: You are hopelessly outnumbered and outmatched inside the castle, the massive groups of swordsmen will slaughter you without using the water effectively. |
