Robin Hood and Tuck have finnaly find a hide-out in the forest. Tuck has not revieved his Ale ration for far too long, so you must provide this. You must assamble men and resources, not only to survive, but to be able to withstand the mean greedy Sheriff. You are the only hope of the poor people in these parts of the land.
Map info:
This is a small map with rich resources. There are several economical goals you must meet for victory. You will not have marketplace advantages, but all you need is available. Be prepared for everything!!
I have testplayed it alot on "normal" and I find it a challenge to win, if you are an expert player you know what to do :)
Hope you enjoy it - please review the map, so that I know what to improve for future maps....
Playability: This map plays very well overall, however the only compaint (and it is one) are the win parameters. I found myself waiting around for ten minutes having achieved all the goals required towards the end. A bit of tweaking to allow the win once all goals are met would have been a bit better. Other than that, a thoroughly enjoyable little map.
Balance: Yep, it's quite a challenge. Could have done with just a few more events to keep you on your toes, but the invasions were very good. I like the limitations in troops you could have attacking you. Tough to achieve gold criteria with no market, and I found myself scouring the map at times thinking that I had built one and lost it somewhere!! That'll teach me to be dependent on selling excess goods. I ended up with a lot of wood as I was fighting to clear the forest sufficiently to build things.
Creativity: This is a cracking little map and whilst the terrain tools aren't used in abundance, what is done is subtle and totally in line with the map. I simply loved Robin and Friar Tuck waltzing in to the castle keep at the beginning! Again, this is a little thing and very simple to do, but it is one of the best openings I have seen to a map.
Map Design: As above, absolutely fine and I enjoyed the whole forested feel, as you would expect from the story. Not sure about the inn and stable placed to the right of the map, it didn't seem to serve a purpose, although not to worry. It's nice to see a map that doesn't go all out for effects and tricks, but still works very well. For what this map is, it's a very good effort.
Story/Instructions: fair, a little rough but there is a story here. You also get a screenshot and a brief word document. Credit for this.
Overall, a really good little map! Small, but subtle. But very well done and another map that doesn't go all out for effects and eye candy, but has an element of atmosphere about it. Splendid! Definitely your best yet!
