AT the foot of mount crowhaven is a small peaceful village known for its calm atmosphere and beautiful waterfalls that run along side, it is also known that its a village created by peasants who could not stay under the harsh rule of lord lavidicus, a viciuos man known for his cruelness and lack of care for his people. when such rumours of this village reached lord loviticus ears he was furious and immediatly set out to destroy it. for lord loviticus finding out where the village lies from locals was easy with a few death threats here and there. he gathered his finest armoured troops and marched.
this is my second map, i made it within 2 hours during school. so far i got 2 maps up and you notice i like making small villages and such, just something were dont see much, and i like to do things differently. Ive playtested this map a few times and its 50-50 chance of win or lose depends on how you fight the enemy off (i have a strategy but i wont tell =) ) this maps says easy but its really not easy. i hope you all enjoy it,
Well done mate that was a truly great map and I had lots of fun with it.The downside to it was that the map was made on a very small scale and everything didn't take that much effort so to be true to the other reviews that I have writen I should take this into notice when writing the rate.
The playability of this map was rather.....diabolic.I started playing the map at very hard and slowly decended to easy because the map was unbeatable.Normally a tough map is a good thing but in this case the gamplay took an unusual turn and I was forced to play it on easy but I don't see how anybody can beat it on normal.but since you might have taken this into notice and designed the map on easy I won't add this to the overall score. The thing I disliked about it was that it was very short and if you make a mistake you can easily restart and in about a minute youre in the same place. When i make saves that means Im affraid of what might happen and I wan't to secure what I have established thus far.Nevertheless this map was REALLY hard to beat and I advise everyone to test their skills and manage to pass it on normal. Here is a pic of the even notice the troops I have left if you play it on normal than that means certain death.
Well as I said the map was quite hard and beating it requires a really concentrated mind and lots of skills. The downside was that it was rather short and the enemy have a now or never option and they just follow one tactic which makes the game a bit predictable. If you make such maps in the future I advise you to make them use siege equipment mostly towers because they increase the difficulty and if you don't remove them in 30 sec youre out.Second the castle was really small there is nothing wrong with that but I concentrated all my forces on the gate and the enemy found it difficult.
I like the idea of the map and how the lord threated the locals for info. But the map itself had nothing that creative which could have contributed to the score.I noticed the dam but I don't see it being so much necessary it rather served as an eyecandy but with no real purpose. In the middle ages dams didn't make electricity (of course) rather they were used to flood some farmland when rain failed to water them and to divert rivers when bridges or other constructions were undertaken.
Map Design: 4
The map was pretty well made for a second one I think you have a lot of potential to become a great designer. The reason for which I have lowered the score is because the map was small and it isn't hard to make a picturesque site.It had some areas (mostly in the top) which could have used a bit more tweaking but it's not such a big issue.
The story was short but interesting and actually contributed to the creativity however it could have been longer mabye in a word doc.Im pleased to see designers explaining how to instal the map file and I see that you want your maps to be popularised.
You are by far the most experienced novice designer I have met thus far and I hope you contribute to the site and have a good time here.
