Marshank Fort

Author File Description
File Details
Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Normal
Martin the Warrior leads an attack on the evil Tyrant's Fort.

You can climb down the cliffs to support the battering ram attack (it was actually a fiery cart in the book).

I tried to organize the army to represent different characters and factions, so see if you can figure out who's who ;) The only problem is that some characters are taken out on harder difficulty.

Please try it and let me know what you think it needs. This is my first map to upload, so I welcome any comments, suggestions, tips, and etc.

I didn't have much time when I first submitted it, so here I will wet your tongues a little with the story.

A young mouse Martin lived happily on the west shore when the evil stoat, Badrang, and his horde of vermin came to the northlands to enslave the peaceful creatures living there. Badrang dreamed of a mighty fort from which he could exercise his dominion over all the northlands and immediately set his new slaves to work. Of course there were some among the slaves who would not stand for such injustice. Among them was the mouse Martin from whom Badrang had taken the wonderful sword of Luke, Martin's father.

Martin's defiance earned him torture and abuse until some travellers passed by and assisted in his escape.

As Martin set off with his new found friends, some other slaves managed to escape. They came across a group of travelling entertainers who agreed to assist them in raising a resistance against the evil tyrant.

As an old rival of Badrang sails up to Marshank Fort, the resistance forces use the opportunity to sneak into the fort to help the slaves. Eventually, Badrang and his rival, Cloggs, fight horde to horde. Badrang with the advantage of his fort wins and burns Cloggs's ship.

Eventually, through many adventures, Martin returns with friends and joins up with the resistance group to take the fight back to Badrang and recover his father's sword.

I hope that interests you. I provided some more details in the map description too. Also, I would definately appreciate a review.

Lord William1234 The map looks pretty good for a first try from a minimap standpoint. I will download it and try it: what book is it based on?

It's from Martin the Warrior. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Synyster Great series... is that Cap'n Tramun Clogg's ship I spy?

You'll just have to see for yourself! :)
Lord William1234 Martin the Warrior? I didn't read that book, but I read the book "Redwall," which came before that book, didn't it?
Lord Tanthos I must say, a pretty excellent rendition of one of my favorite books. A little more detail on the map wouldn't be amiss, and as I recall from the book, the fort was a bit larger.

Overall, quite excellent.

where should I put more detail?

The book, Redwall, was written first, but Martin the Warrior is set chronologically before it.

Yeah, the fort was probably a little bigger, but in order to stay consistent with the map from the book I chose the size based on the features I could add in Stronghold.

and thank you for your comments :)
Lord Tanthos I finished the mission. It was quite enjoyable. I didn't notice Captain Clogg's burned ship until near the end, that was a nice piece of eyecandy.

I assume the hare is the crossbowman? And I assume you picked him merely because of his accent? I would've done the exact same thing, by the way, if you did!

It was a pretty easy siege, my archers rained arrows from the hilltop, and it wasn't too difficult once a space of wall was emptied for my infantry. I would recommend maybe reducing the number of blue archers by maybe 1/3 or 1/2.

Funny thing, my first submissions to the downloads section were also Redwall based maps. I never thought of going north to Marshank though. I did a few missions based in Mossflower. You can search for them under my profile if you would like to play other Redwall maps as well.

Great work!

yes. Thankyou. I downloaded your maps a little while ago but still have yet to play them. I guess I almost have to play them now that you played my map :) Maybe I'll rate them after I play them.

I did chose the crossbowman for the hare and yes because of the accent. The crossbowmen are perhaps my favorite unit just because of the accent. They remind me of the the hare sergeants.

If you select a harder difficulty the units are reduced in number. Of course this also takes out some of the "character" units.

And of course the swordsman is Martin.

I also want to do Castle Floret some time. I have some ideas for that too ;)
Lord Tanthos That would be an excellent idea. Castle Floret was going to be my next endeavour, but then Stronghold Legends came out and took my attention. Ah well...

I do think you should work on it though. This site has too many Lord of the Rings maps and not enough Redwall maps!
