This is the first map in one of my new series of maps, which puts you in the place of an Arabian Sultan. The king of France, King Louis, has launched a full out assault on the nearby lands that once belonged to you. The fortress of Kazeem, which is the one that you are defending at the moment, is the last standing defense against him. Here is the story:
The middle east has long been a peaceful place. People always went about their business, and no one feared poverty. Irrigation was used to provide water for both the people and the crops. Everything was just perfect. Perfect, that is, until drought hit the land. Thousands starved. Many people fled north, hoping to find a way to make another living. Fires destroyed cities. Only a few minor towns remained. From the decimation, the people arose again, and rebuilt the land. However, in its weakened state, not one city, town, or anything would be able to withstand a full assault.
And that was soon proven to be true when King Gregory of England invaded the Middle East and attacked the people there. Thousands were murdered, others were sold into slavery. Until King Gregory met up with your father in the very same castle that you now control. King Gregory laid siege to the castle, attacking with hundreds of soldiers, and even though your father was outnumbered greatly, he managed to hold on and defeat him. Unfortunately, your father died of an arrow wound shortly after. Your uncle then took over, and restored peace.
Devastation once again followed. A deadly plague swept through the land, killing thousands. Others fled. You and your uncle refused to leave the fortress of Kazeem. Eventually, only 1,000 people remained in the country, and your uncle died of the plague. You took control, but were unable to restore peace. Civil Wars destroyed the country, until you reunited them under your banner. King Louis of France has heard the news of the weakness of your country, and is now invading. You now must repeat your father's feat, and defend the fortress of Kazeem from King Louis. You are outnumbered even more so than your father, so you know you must hold out long enough to escape. Time is running out...
You only start with 1500 gold in the mission, along with enough food to last the whole game (if you have a very small population), and some ale and hops. You start with a good amount of stone, but deleting the pyramids to the east (where the people used to hold rituals to honor their gods) will provide you with even more stone to repair the walls and towers. You cannot build any tower in this mission: only walls. Also, since you are an Arabian lord in this mission (the lord is not arabian, though), you can only create mercenaries, so choose your men wisely.
Good luck! |
