to Hitman: Thank you. Are you serious about my future as a good map maker? It was just an idea to make one map by myself, I have no big ambitions in map making...:P (sorry for the english, Im from Czech Republic O:-))

Ahoj, boshke :) As I can see your first map is miles ahead the other's first maps... i mean geez, if this is your first try, what could be the latest maps ;) I'm absolutely serious, because, when i looka t my first map and this, there are a lot fo differences and of course if you are about to make more skirmishes, please take a look at surajsubba's or Az Vitrazhas' maps... they really have something to show you ;) I hope this map won't be your only. Welcome aboard!

I agree with Hitman - your map is not bad for a first! My comments:
Always, always, always try to make your map look as realistic and natural as possible. And yes, everyone can do this - it's not as hard as you think! When designing, always ask yourself, “Does it look natural? Does it look real? Could this actually happen somewhere in nature?” One of the strengths of the Stronghold series is the level of realism and beauty a map can achieve; always keep this in mind. Now, nobody expects a dazzling map for a first timer, so it’s all right. However, to improve, I think this aspect is an important one to develop. People tend to download and comment more (and possibly review) on maps that look aesthetically pleasing. Whether we like it or not, we as humans tend to judge books by their cover – so take advantage of this, and make good impressions with good terraining. Like Hitman said, I’m sure you’ll be making good maps in the future. Welcome to Stronghold Heaven!

PS: @Hitman
Psst! I know this is off topic, but I’ve posted some stuff about my latest project on the forums – the map’s called Idyll. Here’s the URL:

Just thought you might like to know, and could possibly review or comment when released? :P
