Map Name: Castle Darkmoon
Known bugs: The knights don't behave sensibly on "agressive"
mode, so I placed them on "defensive mode" instead.
20 or so knight charging a 500-strong army is a
definite recipy for defeat.
Best Score: ~ 2400 Castle Points, this one is VERY difficult.
Editor(s) used: Stronghold "Siege This" editor.
Base: None. Built from new.
Construction Time: 1 day for basic design, 2 days tweaking.
1) Copy the map file to the C:\Games\Stronghold\Maps directory.
2) Start Stronghold, select military - siege, and away ye go!
I more or less designed this one to be as impregnable as possible. This probably isn't the case, but I'm not paticularly patient and so far my massive armies have been easily swept aside by the awsome size & defensive capability of this imposing fortress. I have an idea of how to make this even more challenging, so there might be another castle on the way built along very similar ideas soon.....

HINTS (SPOILER FOLLOWS):
Try using trebuches to make holes in the outer & inner walls, then use massed crossbowmen to clear the archers away so your cheap spearmen can fill in the moat, leaving a "clear" path for your knights to charge the inner gate. However, even if you manage to breech the outer defences, your army will be fiendishly forced to travell 3/4 of the way armound the inner walls, whilst being peppered with arrows, set on fire, & trapped in spiked ditches. This one's a real bastard of a castle to take, even with the largest of opposing armies!
Although the author has made it clear that this map is tough, it goes far beyond that. Building a great castle and then plugging it solid with defenders does not present a well planned siege.
In playability I have to deduct points for the complete lack of balance in this map. As defender, you do not have to do anything more than click start. As the attacker the castle is near impossible to penetrate even the outer wall and by the time you have reached the inner wall, chances are you will have little left to move forward.
As with playability, I would say balance is also reflected in the comments above.
The map is not creative at all although the caslte design is nice. No real use of anything on the map or in the story that would allow me to score this category high at all.
The map itself was left completely untouched other than the castle and moat area. The entire map is just flat grass with no use of the editor being visable.
Since the author has made an attempt at a small story line and offered a few tips, I have awarded extra points here.
I think the author could spend a lot more time on map details, and attempting to make the castle tough with limited defense.
