Map Name: Castle Loudwater
Known bugs: The siege engines defending the castle behave very
erratically. Sometimes they do things, other times
they dumbly sit there. I don't know why, but
they're certainly effective when they choose to work.
Best Score: ~ 1100 Castle Points, going round the back was a
big mistake! :0
Editor(s) used: Stronghold "Siege This" editor.
Base: None. Built from new.
Construction Time: 1 day for basic design, 1 day tweaking.
1) Copy the map file to the C:\Games\Stronghold\Maps directory.

I chose the name from the nearby waterfall. If this was my castle, I'd call it this. Fairly simmilar in concept to my "Castle Blackstone", but I decided than gicven the limited gold available for defending, it would be interesting to try to force the protagonist to use a single siege route, of suffer huge casualties. I'm not sure it's worked completely, but I think it's an interesting design for a castle with limited defensive resources. It's not based on any castle that I know of, but it it's simmilar to something you've seen, drop me an email, i'd be interested to hear about it.

HINTS (SPOILER FOLLOWS):
Hmm.... Not sure really. Keep most of your trops out of the range of the catapults while you construct a few trebuchets to take the main wall down. Once this has happened inch your archers forward to take out the siege equipment and defending archers. Run in your pikemen or swordsmen under fire support and attempt to storm the main gate. Watch out for the tar pits surrounding the gate though, so be prepared to beat a temporary retreat.
