Hi all,

This is a Motte and Bailey castle siege designed to show the how bands of Raiders and Outlaws whould prey on small and defenceless communities. You (luckily) have defences in place for such needs. This siege is for defending ONLY! To create the effect of unpreapeard attacks sav-map has been used so set the community up.


Your son saw then coming. He was on duty on the outer defences. He now had an arrow in his back. They came, rushing, like an unstoppable tide of death and destruction. As you survey the battlefield, now scattered with bodies and rubble, your archers fire rounds of needle-sharp arrows at the invaders. The savages. The barbariens. They left no structure standing.

Please comment! There are probobaly 101 mistakes. If possible someone could point them out.
DragonSpawn 1. If he was on the walls, and he saw the invaders, the arrow would technically be in his Front, or Chest

2. Motte and Bailey - A wooden walled castle with a MOAT (Motte=moat in either latin or french) but yeah if it was a motte and bailey, the moat would already be there, so this is just basically a wooden castle.

Dont worry, only 99 more to go!


I dont have Stronghold, only Crusader, but this looks good and has a nice story to it.

Answers to faults:
1. If he was shouting back to the castle he would turn around, arrow in back.
2. There is a moat!

Perhaps downloading and seeing the moat may help!

Mastermusash Is the moat in the lower right hand corner. If so it is hard to see but still visible.

Sorry about that. It does make a big differace however (hint,hint)!
DragonSpawn as I said, i dont have Stronghold original so downloading it would be pointless
Map Design2.0
Playability: 3.5
A pretty fun map to play. In the story you mention it being unprepared attacked it might of been funner to have troops grouped around the barracks waiting for orders than already on the wall. I also would of personally liked more melee troops.

Balance: 4
On normal I won at the keep which is pretty good balance. The thing that helped me the most was the pitch.

Creativity: 3
This type of map has been done many times. However it has some nice castle design. The story does nicely tie in with the map thats always good.

Map Design: 2
Unfortunately the map design is not very good. The main problems are everything besides the castle is pretty bare, it seems the trees were there only to fill it up not for realism. In general having a straight up cliff should be used rarely it looks rather ugly, if you want unpassable mountains try hills with a range of moderately taller mountains. Sometimes cliffs will be coming out of the side of the map but they will mostly be large plateau's.

Story/Instructions: 2.5
Very short but interesting story.

Additional Comments: You seem to be a good mapmaker but it looks like you should download some maps and play them to a get a feel for map design.

My map The Anniversary will give you an idea about map design although its not the best, it would be nice if it got a review as well.

And so people know a motte is a hill usually man-made, with a keep on top of it. A bailey is the lower valley courtyard.
