DragonSpawn Well, i dont have Stronghold original, but right now i can tell you that you need to write a story for this, makes it much more interesting and much more likely to get downloaded
jhuntley Normoh if this is a work in progress and you are just wanting some comments and help, then it looks ok. You have done a fairly decent job of varying the terrain. I have seen a lot of maps that are boring flat land with nothing on them but a few people and buildings you at least tried to get things going.

Now if you think this is a finished map, then I would have to say it is very disappointing as it has great potential with a few hours more work to make it appealing.

The biggest problem for me at least the one i noticed immediately and stuck with me, is the way the ocean and river meet. now you tried to blend them with foam which is fine, BUT in the game it just doesnt look right or appealing. what would work best is to put a waterfall here and have a couple big rocks sticking out maybe. Just do something here other than keeping them on the same plane and joining as it just isnt appealing to the eye its more of a distraction at least for me.

As for the high plain areas add a bunch of rocks bushes trees all kinds of stuff. If you look at your minimap you can see where you have a few scattered objects and then a bunch of nothing. The first thing people do is look at the minimap before downloading. When people see a big area with nothing on it they usually wont download it.

The next thing I will address is the final wall in the pass. You have no gatehouse there. as it is a way to the ocean (thus to ships etc for shipping purposes) you have no acess to it. most castles would not totally block this off. It also does not allow you to engage the enemy if they were landing from ships as is here.

Since I am on the subject lets talk the Scenerio. First you should try to write up a nice couple paragraphs explaining the setup. The biggest thing to help you is what all writers learn on day one and that is to ask your self have you answered these 5 questions: Who, What, Why, When, Where and the one usually thrown in at the end is How. Write your scenerio and answer those questions and it will go far.

The other thing along these lines is that it took forever and nothing ever happened other than the invading crossbowmen shot up to the top of the plateau and killed my archers on the towers that couldnt reach them. you need to have various small incursions happen leading up to the grand finale battle or give the player something to do. also looking in the editor the only event you have is they've found us sir. Ok they found us now what they gonna stand there and look silly or are they going to attack because with no access to the river due to a solid wall I cant do anything.

Ok my last comment you have premade a lot of farms. why not give the player some play time and let him have to build some before the invasion. you give the player 10kg but there is nothing to spend it on. I click on the various things to try and build hovels or other such items to maybe create more troops etc and there is nothing available. you need to address this issue too.

I hope you take this all as constructive and not a nitpick. I see a lot of potential in the map when it is finished, but as it is now it is just something to look at and then discard.

GrumpyGills I actually downloaded this map.. Here is what I think.

It is a siege map! Why do you have so much empty land, as you wont be able to build upon it!
I suggest making the cliff partially high terrain and max terrain, continuously equalising to get a slightly uneven feel.
Break the monotony by perhaps putting Himalaya terrain on just below high terrain, to get some areas slightly higher than max.

Put a lot of rocks, a bit of pebbles, anything! It just looks so bland!
Other than that, nice try, it was an alright attempt.
I'm sorry, but I think you need to find out.
monkcrazy5 I have something to add, the troops will not come when they arrive, so I had to destroy wall to have them come through. The pikeman destroyed the bridge, so I laughed as they dug themselves into the ground, but I stopped as soon as they couldn't come. You need to add more fords on the river so they can get through ever if they destroy the bridge.

Thanks for joining SHH.

PrinceMartini Great map
I would have downloaded it if it was on Stronghold Crusader :(
Timballisto Hi. I actually like the "terrain concept" you have going if you know what I mean. Could use a heck of a lot of detail work, although for roughing things in, this isn't too shabby.
