this is the updated version of AD470,i have made changes to the win/lose condition dates.
Ihave included a bonus map called 1137AD,which is set during the first english civil war between king stephen and queen matilda.Your foe is duc de puce(the rat). This mission is hard for novice players, but can be won if you use your troops wisely.Enjoy, LD |

Could you point a link at the original? It will help get a story across. Or Copy the story onto this page.
I'm just about to download, looks a sweet map!
And I love the period the second map is set in!
This is a true compliment. From experience, some would know the normal comments I post are close to abuse. The minimap looks great!
EDIT:
I am now going to take a slightly more reserved opinion.
I think some looking around the superb map makers' work, such as Warlord Designs, Sulis, Younghappy, etc etc, could give you a better outlook on some more natural maps.
It looks good at the moment, a bit better than some of the... (insert) ... maps that come in.
There was a slight bug that the enemy would run around, presumably to an open gatehouse, or to the other signpost, and as such my archers would fire upon them.
In the second wolf invasion, there seemed a bug where soldiers would suddenly appear in my castle?!
I suggest playtesting again.
A good map, and sorry, no review... Not much time, you see.

Ah, a stronghold map... Is it just me, or is stronghold being obseleted by crusader? |

Firstly to Grumpygills, thanks for the positive comment,i will get round to making a link to the original map,but i am pre-occupied with family life so i can't spare as much time as i'd like.I have read 'mapmaking101'(unfortunately i used the pause option and killed off most of the trees!)which i'm not happy about. and used it in other maps-i am currently making maps for SH1 Crusader,SH2 and legends ,but won't be posting them for a few months.By the way,did you win with 1137ad?
To evil_space_cows,no it's not just you,SH1 is being ignored due to Crusader, hopefully we'll see a change before long, but with the advent of SHC-extreme before long maybe we won't.LD[Edited on 04/25/08 @ 06:49 AM]

I played the AD470 mission and the castle design is brilliant, and landscape fit in perfectly. Just a few things I wanted to point out:
1. There's only like a few clumps of trees, maybe a small forest near the fort would be better, unless it's for a challenge.
2. The squire reports the Wolf's swordsmen are here about 1 or 2 months earlier.

Firstly Daltour, welcome to Stronghold heaven.Secondly, the reason there are so few trees is that while making the map i paused the map editor and the trees were in the 'winter cycle' at the time i was a bit annoyed at first but realized it added to the 'feel' of the scenario .As for the message being early this is meant to emphasize that you have light cavalry units in the vicinity,in the very first model i had a couple of knights near a sign post ,but they got killed, then i tried a different colour for them, but then i couldnt click on them to ride to the castle, and finally i'm thinking of releasing this for SH2 and Legends, when it's completed.Glad you enjoyed the map! To GrumpyGills, glad you enjoyed the second map, its' one of my favourite periods in english history.(2)why not try some of my other maps?SH2-'Blood of the Saxons'? or some of my legends maps,i even have two mappacks for SH1.Btw i downloaded a couple of maps of yours, great design and concept, but like you i have very little time to reveiw maps etc,due to a very busy family life/work.My philosophy is to make makes that are fun, easy to play and good to look at-see. And just to think i was lousy at art in school-30yrs ago, lol!!what we need is more crafted maps.LD.nb-signposts-i hate it when they enemy run around from one to the other-crusader mission 3 comes to mind.[Edited on 06/03/08 @ 09:10 PM]
