Have you ever wished that there were more games than the 50 provided in the Crusader trail? Have you found that when going back to the ‘earlier’ games (among the 30 first games of the trail), they are just too easy and don’t give you enough challenge? Here is a bunch of ‘new’ games that will give you additional challenges.
In the Crusader Trail, all buildings and units are allowed. It is very likely that each game player develops his own strategy and uses a very similar strategy for most of the games. Myself for example, tend to hire lots of archers and a handful of crossbows as the core of my army. Add a bunch of pikemen and maybe engineers and I’m ready for battle. For the tougher games at the end of the trail, it is just a matter of how quickly you can set up the castle design and how fast you can hire troops.
By restricting what type of buildings and units you can have, you will be forced to develop completely new strategies and the ‘old’ trail games will be very different and become new challenges. Here are some suggestions how to ‘renew’ many of the earlier games in the trail and make them interesting to play again. The later games (above number 30 or so) are just too hard to put in additional constraints, so I have not yet been successful in ‘renewing’ many of those games. Note carefully though, that most of the original trail games are playable without using the market at all. That’s how I started restricting the available buildings and the next step was to play without the fletchers.
