Bad Moon Rising

Author File Description

File Details
Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Normal
Minimap:
In-game story:

The scribe bounded towards you breathlessly, "Lord Paul, I have new orders from the King. You must take a force of men to Clearwater and capture the small castle belonging to Duc de Puce. Establish a strong castle and produce weapons and armour for the Kings armies. We must destroy de Puce's torture devices by December 1152 and begin work immediately. The castle and goods must be ready by Jan 1179 when the King's Inspectors will arrive."
The scribe shuddered as he continued. "It ... it says Duc Volpe also plans to assault Clearwater and his troops are already en-route! We must act quickly!"

As you depart you consider this news; Duc Volpe is the King's half brother and bitter rival. From his northern stronghold he has been steadily moving south, laying waste to all before him. You must make a stand at Clearwater, fail and there will be nothing to stop him marching upon the King himself!

Player Notes:

This is a fairly long map of approximately 35 game years and it is split into three sections.

Jan 1150 - Dec 1152
The first section is the capture of the Rat's castle, you must defeat all the forces in your way and clear the map entirely of all enemies to cede the castle. You must destroy the four gibbets by December 1152 or you will be defeated. If you are successful you will receive a Traveling Fair bringing new objectives and you can continue to play.

Jan 1153 - Jan 1179
In the second part you must repel several minor invasions, rebuild the castle and attain the eco-goals ready for when the 'King's Inspectors' (Snake Troops) arrive in January 1179. If you have failed in your quest the Inspectors will attack you and you will be defeated. If you have been successful the Inspectors will assist you. A few months later you will receive a Traveling Fair bringing new objectives and you can continue to play.

Jan 1180 - 1185 approx.
Let's see how good your defences really are shall we?
The final section will put your castle to the test. A prolonged invasion of the Wolf's troops will assault your castle. However you are now free to use the weapons and armour you acquired in part two to help you.

Good Luck ...

If you download it and play, please enjoy! Just don't expect an easy time ...

The Hitman This is what I call an invasion :)
younghappy :) The map room has been lacking in real good maps like this for a while. Looks awesome and it sound like a challenge. I'll give it a blast after I do coursework!
monkcrazy5 The scenario is 30 years...a month is about 30 scendos...6 minutes times twelve is 180 minutes=3 hours! Whoa! You might want to short en the scenario a bit.
GrumpyGills I never put that into perspective. Such a scenario!
A scenario of such length would stand as a testament to a great map-maker.

Thank you for the positive comments, they're gratefully received.

Monkcrazy, I know how long the scenario lasts. It's simple, if you don't fancy it, don't play it.

Shir Shpamalot Will play this map now, and rate at some point as well.

I'm looking forward to this map.

The Hitman omg I played this in 3 days xD approx. 1 hour per day plus some false starts :) For a such long mission, I felt like I'm the lord in the keep...
Daltour the mini-map and landscape look great. Just one question: How do you change the color of your troops, I need it for a certain map I'm working on?

So I take it you enjoyed it Hitman? If so then good, that's what it's for! ;-)

"How do you change the color of your troops?"
If it's for an existing map you'll need a Hexadecimal Editor, if you start a new map there's templates in the Utilities Downloads.
