I tried to defend and to attack the castle. So, I can make a complete review, based on the two aspects of a siege map.
Defense - We can at the beginning use the pitch ditch to burn a lot of enemies (especially macemen). I've used a engineer with a boiling cauldron in order to burn the ditch pitch which are close to the army. Even with that, the army is very storng, destorying quite easily my poor defense, and were finally stopped by a lot of engineers in the Keep. So, the game was quite intense, with a strong assault against a poor castle.
Attack - Here, in "Normal" level, we can have about 200 crossbow and 150 macemen. So, with this army, killing the enemies need just a few strategy, and a lot of rage. A strong assault by sending all our troops at the front of the gatehouse is a radical and very useful solution. A very violent siege ^^
The difficulty is quite good for the defense. We are submerged by this army, and, if we don't use the ditch pitch at the beginning, surviving against all these enemies is very difficult. We have to use carefully the fire aginst the enemies. It was in fact quite funny. However, I think the attack is very too easy, but it's the classic problem in the castle siege. It's very difficult to create a map where defend is hard, and attacking is hard too. The creator has to choose, and you choose the defense. It's a good point, for beginners like for veterans.
The siege himself isn't quit eoriginal, but it's difficult here too to make a siege original. So, I put "4" because I like the utility of the ditch pitch. We have to use them quickly, giving an interest to the siege.
Map Design: 3
Not ugly, but not really beautiful. In a way, it's like for your other maps. There isn't a lot of work here about the design (just some hills, nothing exceptional), but the map isn't ugly.
Just some words on the Topic...
Good siege, but no story. Quite embarrassing...
