The Siege of Cliston

Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Normal
Minimap:
Hi everyone! I have returned to making and submitting maps! Well, actually, the following map is one that I had made a long time ago. It was originally was part of the Rebellion series (which had to do with destroying the cathedral), but I edited it, and changed it into a siege. Your army is not huge, and you have no ranged units. So prepare for a reasonably difficult siege: at least, if you do not pay attention to all of your units at one point, you may suffer heavy casualties. Quick and swift tactics are the key here.

Story:

After a long and harsh journey, you and your army arrive at the fortress of Cliston. You stare in amazement at the monstrosity of the castle: 3 layers of walls, all well defended by great amounts of soldiers. You know that attacking this castle will not be easy, but you have no other choice: you must attack the castle, or your life will be forfeit. The king had sent you on this mission, after all. You draw your sword, hold it high in the air, and let loose a battle cry as you and your men charge for the castle. Arrows fly. Rocks crash. The siege of Cliston has begun.

Please rate and/or comment on this map, as I would like to know if you think that this map is either too hard or too easy. I hope that everyone who downloads this map enjoys it!

After playing on "Stronghold Crusader Extreme", I play again on "Stronghold Crusader", and I start with your map. A quite interesting siege.

Playability: 4.5
Killing the Enemy Lords was very difficult. You said we must be strategic. It's true, but we need also a lot of luck. I finally win after some test. I don't want to tell how I win, but it's really very difficult. I sent allmy troops, and killing the Lord is very difficult. Indeed, we must be very fast, because the Arabian archers and the crossbowmen's enemies can easily kill all of our men. So, it was a game really stressful, thrilling a lot, where my heart did "BOOM-BOOM" when I sent all of my men in order to try to kill the Lord. Yet, I don't used the battering ram (I don't know if it has a utility... I don't used a lot the battering ram).

Balance: 4.5
As I said before, the game was quite difficult. We're under a lot of arrows coming from the Arabian archers and the crossbowmen, so this siege was very difficult. The siege consists in making a strong and quick assault with almost all of the troops in order to kill the Lord. The difficult passage comes from the mountain. Reach it is quite terrible, because the troops are braked by the mountain, so they can die. After that, killing the Lord is also difficult, because he's protected by a lot of men, especially the Arabian swordsmen, who can kill all the troops who can finally enter in the keep. So, it was quite difficult. I really liked it.

Creativity: 5
Normally, in a siege, we've some archers, crossbowmen or fire ballistaes to help us. Here, nothing at all, so we're forced to make a quick and strong assault, even if we must use some strategy before that. So, it was really original. With archers, the siege is quite long, because, generally, I kill a lot of adversaries with them. So, here, I've used another strategy, quite hazardous, even if it was a success. A very original siege.

Map Design: 3.5
The map is quite poor, even if the walls of the castle are quite beautiful, making a kind of octagon for the first wall. After that, there isn't a lof of things : some hills and marecage in the map, but it's just the walls which make an impression of beauty. Anyway, the castle is clearly well-done.

Story/Instructions: 3.5
A good story to introduce the game. The instructions are quite poor, so the Player must clearly use his brain without having the possibility to find some help.

Additional Comments:
A good siege. I really liked it, it was very original !
