hello this is me Ankiset again the novice siege map maker, this is my second project, and probably the first one of a series of sieges and wars based arround tolkiens mirkwood, *my history is fictitional*,

i made the map in a defender aproach, but, is not that hard nor that easy, you could try the atacker side but its very dificult i wasent able to take my own castle =), plz let me know the way you were able to win plz also post coments and do try to download, i think that the armys are unbalanced, even that the enemy is a 500 soldier army. i tried all the combinations posible the best i found was maceman knights sowrdman and those things that nock down walls =)

thanks for da great rewiew you encourage me to make more maps, lol i puted all those traps to avoid the enemy from getting to the weak part of the castle whitout first losing a lot troops, you cant denay is kindah ard to keep the first walls from falling lol.

PS:il try to take some traps out, but if i do then the whole game would be imposbile lol.

Playability: The second map from Lord Ankiset, and another good attempt. This is equally fun to play and defending the castle is the preferred method to play. On hard and very hard setting, giving as many attacking troops as possible, this map started out fine, as I tried to predict what the AI would do, how best to combat the attacks and moving my men around a little to give them best advantage. I won with not too many troop losses. I tried to attack this as well, opting for easy setting to give ME as many troops, yet it was practically impossible, even though I knew where pitch would be. Atill, it is another good effort.

Balance: This is the weakest part of this map, i'm afraid. Defending is a little too easy and after a few tweaks I could let the castle defend itself. Attacking is a no-no, simply because the imbalance is too great. To address this, I suggest opting for fewer crossbowmen who, in numbers, are pretty hardcore. However, the biggest problem I found with this and which hindered playability was the liberal use of both pitch pits and hot oil engineers. I thought there was too much of both. If this was reduced to smaller spots on the ground and just a few engineers in strategic places, it would give you a fighting chance.

Creativity: Another Tolkien adaptation and again, whilst I know nothing of the story, it seems to be a well thought out recreation. The use of terrain to limit your attacking options is fine, likewise you know where to defend. Works fine.

Map Design: Again, not bad, maybe a little crude in places, but suited to the map I think. Take time to design your maps, Lord Ankiset, see what can be done by downloading others here and experiment.

Story/Instructions: Okay, generally well presented and an attempt has been made to provide input to this area.

Overall, another good attempt and credit to be given for what has been done by a new map maker. Keep them coming, Lord Ankiset! If anyone fancies a real challenge, just try to attack this and see how you get on! It beat me, but i'm not a siege expert (tactics are pretty limited, i'm afraid!) Definitely worth a look.
