Tales of Darkness

Author File Description
File Details
Map Size: 200x200 (Small)
Difficulty: Hard
Beasts. They're everywhere. It all started five months ago. The Great Plague. We had no chance, almost everyone was infected. They died within days of aquiring The Plague. Then, they reanimated and overan civilization, few survived this dreadful massacre. I have led some survivors into the mountains where I hope we will be spared. Our numbers are fewer than a hundred. How could we have prepared for this? Demons risen from their graves walk the earth and raiders plunder wealthy survivors, living like kings in a ruined world. We are the living in union, if the dead assault us we will fight to the last man.

God protect us.

If you wish to make a more zombie-like atmosphere, replace the spearman in the GM file with the one included in my map file. When you wish to to switch back to the original spearmen , take the back-up spearman rename it, "body_spearman.gm1" and put it into the GM file.

Enjoy the map, any comments or reveiws would be appreciated, thanks.

fixed it, sorry about that.
barbarius Indeed, the scenario makes me think to the movie "I'm a Legend" ^^

Playability: 3.5
We control a little camp where tre isn't a lot of things to do, jsut moving our troops, and putting some killing pits and woodcutters. So, the game isn't really enjoyful. Hopefully, the assaults come quickly, so the map isn't boring. But, the major problem of the map comes from the lack of gestion. Moreover, this problem comes with a big facility. The map isn't very difficult, but it was quite funny. I always like assaults, so I can't say I dislike this map. In fact, I liked it, but, because of the scenario, we can't create a strong city, so this lack of gestion is, in a way, acceptable.

Balance: 3
Well, you indicate your map as "Hard". I disagree with this statement. Indeed, it was very easy. The spearmen can't kill just one of my men, and they can't destroy the first wall. Moreover, I didn't use the ditch pitch. It was really very easy. Maybe I suggest you to make more strong assaults, by using more spearmen. Here, the game is quite easy. Moreover, even if the spearmen can pass all the killing pits and the ditch pitch, there's a lot of swordsmen and pikemen to kill them.

Creativity: 3.5
There isn't a lot of things to do in this map, so it's not very original. I especially liked the design of the map, wich was, in a way, original. However, it's just strong assaults against a littel castle. This map is maybe better as a siege instead of being an invasion scenario, because there's no gestion to do.

Map Design: 3.5
The design of the map is quite repetitve, but the map gives an idea of end of the world, reinforcing the scenario. The tone of the map, with the mountains, is quite chaotic. The ditch pitch add an idea of apocalypse. But, well, all the tress hide the design, so we can't see a lot of things. The design of the camp isn't very exceptional, but the design of the map is quite acceptable.

Story/Instructions: 4
A good story, which make me think to these movies where a virus creates human genetically modified who want to kill every body... Something like "I'm A Legend", or "28 Weeks Later".

Additional Comments:
A good map, even if it's too easy...
