This map can press you into the chair.
The concept can't be quite new after so many invasions in SH and SHC. You begin in one corner, with short supplies, on the other side, beyond the slope there's the enemy's castle which you have to own. In between some invasions upon you from a sign post. But the working-out of the map is sometimes unique, the modelling and manning of the bad stronghold is absolutely great.
I won't reveal to much telling a few tactis I had to use. From the stockpile up to the iron fields I built a long wall, showing my workers which direction to go to outside the range of the enemies' arrows. There's no back door but different ways up to the plateau. And often there's a dead angle, from where the 4 survivors out of 40 archers may take out the hostile tower crew. And have you ever destroyed good things with arrows? I did it this time in pure despair to gain some progress. (But then do NOT destroy the huts.)
Seldom I saw so many men dying rapidly - the enemy has each and every advantage on his side, xbows and not least a fear factor +5. My first attack consisted of about 300 pikes and 300 European swords. Well, they cleared some towers... Later I assembled about 1000 melees (thereby finding every single foot trap). To achieve such big a number I decided to play this map in 90 game speed!
Divide and conquer: Charging melee groups distracted the enemy's fire while groups of archers occupied towers to fight down the hostile marksmen.
Aside: the invading troops aren't bad, too. TwoDie restrained the use of fire, but thanks he allowed me to use wooden traps.
