Review to - The Siege of Trabus - By Urby5
Playability: 3
I Played the map 4 times with different difficulties and chancing attacking to sieging and otherway, i think it's fun little siege, not way too unbalanced, but easy for me, but you marked it as an normal, so i played the map on Very hard to have a challenge, but i also checked out the normal, alot of burning was a cool, and the pitch ditch are always nice, they make me to play the map more to see the results of good timing on them, also i liked to use the engineers for 'hot' attacks :)
on attacking there was no money to use engineers but it was still fun, i sneaked with some horsemen from the woods to destroy to east main gate, than i putted my pikemen (i pointed all my points to them expect 10 horsemen) i was just not able to beat the map on attacking with very hard, but i got in to the keep, there was left just few swordmen and the enemy king, on defending i did an fairly easy job burning the attackers and piercing them with my crossbow arrows, lost only 18% troops on very hard there.
Balance: 2
Well the map could have been still alot better balanced, i lost 3%troops on normal defending and 18%on very hard, on attacking i lost 18% on normal, and on very hard was not just able to kill the lord, so it is fairly easy for me, but this is just my opinion mate, some "not that experienced" i mean beginners can find this map even more of a challenge, but reviews include the opinion of the reviewer so this what was a coclusion, i really hope you make more challenge to your furute maps, but good beginning.
Creativity: 3
There was an lowered walls techique made harbour, and that is really creative from a first map, really impressed me, but on other hand there was nothing spectacular, or eye-candy.
Map Design: 3
Good for first one, rocks, trees, other scenery, the castle is cool, and harbour (without ships), you can improve ALOT on map design, creativity and other areas by reading 'map making 101' found on the main site.
Story/Instructions: 3
No story in the download page, but in the in-game was a short one but enough for first map :=)
Additional Comments:
I Hope you read the map making 101, download other people's maps to find out map design tricks and learn scripting by looking the maps in the editor, it really helps alot, you should also drop by in the forums, (link in the welcome section on the left up corner).
i wait to see more maps from you in the future! |

Thank you for the review. I will try to make my other maps better. I will defenetly read all of the map making category, I just went to take a peak at it about a minute ago ;)At the docks I wanted to make a ship with archer support on it, but it was kinda hard to make so I left it out.
Thank you again,

Playability: 3.5
it was playable, thats about it. There were no glitches or bugs, but...it was more like a movie than a game, waaay too easy.
Balance: 2.5
the enemies stood no chance. i lost 0% on hard, thanks to the generous amount of killing pits and pitch ditches you set up. even if any enemies HAD broken in, you had so many pikemen inside the walls they would've been slaughtered. sorry man, try toughening things up a bit.
Creativity: 4
it was a pretty straightforward castle, albeit well-designed. the ground could use some work, but the plains were well-done. heres a tip i heard somewhere around here (not sure where lol): take the smallest brush size and select the dirt tool. run over the map placing random dirt spots, it takes a few seconds to do and makes the ground look less monotonous=)
Map Design: 3.5
the design wasn't anything new, but it was nice. i like the fact that enemy troops try to flank the castle, always cool to see the AI pull a stunt like that. the plains clashed with the ground, should've equalized the ground a bit, but thats about all the negative stuff i can say. look at the mapmaking 101 section, it helped me TONS=)
Story/Instructions: 3.5
The story was too short for my taste, but im one of those guys who loves a good story. work on your spelling a bit, type it out on MS word and spellcheck it before you put it in. I like the bit about the horsemen from the king, helped bind the story to the gameplay quite a bit.
Additional Comments:
not the best map ive ever seen, but with some work it couldve been a solid 4. keep workin on it, man. |

Thank you for your review, demolitionMCR. I will check my spelling before I post the story for my next map and it's gonna be longer than this one, I have it all in my head right now I have to just write it down and and make some adjustments to my next map.
Thank you again,
