UPDATE-This mappack contains two versions of the mission map 'south of Damascus' one is for crusader(map v1) and the other is for crusader that comes with the extreme package.
- - -- --- -- -- --
The story,
1130AD,you are a captain in the Emir's guard wrongly accused of treason you flee for your life vowing to prove your innocence.
The mission starts ten years later. As a sucessful renegade you and your small band have raided rich merchant caravans on land and at sea,but all that is going to change very quickly as tension between Muslims,Christians and Jews become strained, there is a new foe from the east which is sweeping away the old order. You are as yet unaware of this as you have your sights set on a trading post-full story is included in the file.
I would like to mention that i have added the concept map'Hashara' which is a working invasion map and have made a multiplayer version for crusader extreme-four players.
Main map-This is a cede-style scenario, you appear to be out numbered but there are ways to capture the keep. You have few supplies left so do you wait until the new'owners' get their economy started or do you attack immediately?
There are several events at the start to trip you up,one is a force of horse archers sent by the Emir(due to a traitor?)others are non -military,such as plague, fire and a few lions! The invasions, well seeing as this scenario is loosely based around the time of the second crusade, you have made a lot of new enemies, and as a 'high profile' outlaw may have bitten more off than you can chew, the question is do you make a stand and maybe get the chance to reveal the traitor and prove your innocence or will you go and hide in the mountains?Hints-there is iron on the map but is well away from your castle, there is also stone available to quarry from the ruined town to the south-east,but is very close to one of the signposts. When you've completed the mission why not try the multiplayer version that is included?
enjoy

Hi LD,
to play your map is a "must" and will surely be thrill & pleasure. Conquering the castle is a "nice" beginning.
Alas, the game has crashed four times now at the same two points. When I started it I wanted to decrease game speed. When I had lowered it before in the main menu the game broke down as soon as I had placed about 15 new buildings (including hovels for higher pop). Do you think my installation is the problem or the map?

Hello Peter20008,i read your comment, sorry to hear the game crashed. The map worked fine during extensive playtesting-no problems with population increase, invasions etc.I have no trouble with crusader apart from some of the higher missions on the warchest trail-very little gold and weak allies.Does your pc have a shared graphic card?that can cause problems.Regarding different player colours i havent had any trouble with them even for extreme-'purple reign'plays fine.Any further problems just drop me a line here
cheers

Hey Lord Dredde another nice map or three, I have some problems with this one as well, I can play the SoD map but can't change the speed in game and when I quit the game crashes. When I clicked on some scripting in the editor the game crashed, I only tried the one map.
I will try and play it again later so I can make some comments on the map itself. |

Hi Sir_Vet,sorry to hear you had trouble with the map,i'm beginning to think the new game may not recognize a different player colour, from your post and that of peter2008.The only way to rectify this is for me to make the map where player colour is the standard red,but as i mentioned to peter2008 i've not had trouble with different player colours,if i can be of further help just drop me a line here.

I've got another idea of a possible origin of the problem: Crusader updated with the Crusader Extreme DVD, i.e. version 1.2 causes game crash when played online together with the former 1.1 version. Perhaps this explains why you, LD, had no problem in testing but we now have. |

Hello,peter2008,seems great minds think alike, this was the main suspicion i had regarding game versions.I still have v1.2 installed and have searched the net for a 1.2 patch for the 'vanilla' crusader but have had little success, all i got was mostly for game trainers etc, which defeats the object of playing strategy games.Anyway i digress, have you played the maps with v1.2 since?
I've made a replacement map where you still have the cede-event but player colour is red,as for a 1.1 version i'll have to make a map on my other pc.
cheers

Hi lord dredde, I've been able to play your map with the 1.2 version. It's a real INVASION map. Please await a review, I want to play the map again to try various strategies (and read the guidelines for correct ranking). |

Hello peter2008,glad to hear you can play the map and try different strategies.I have now updated the file with a map for version1.1 crusader and a save file-just before victory in 1155,which i wont spoil by saying how i achevied this,i did however play the scenario all the way through to the bitter and brutal end, when the Big invasions came.Regarding invasions i find it is easier to keep them below the 500 limit and to try and script a seperate much smaller invasion of seige equipment first,i tried several ideas and settled for the version i uploaded as it played well.
I trust that you and Sir_Vet have been able to enjoy the different maps as the were intended, the sequel South of Damascus-Hakim's revenge will be for version1.1 but will play for version1.2 and...well best not to give too much away? ;)
cheers
