A dangerous land.(for the new crusader game)
This fun little scenario sees you the human player as Henry duc Truffe and his two eldest sons against three powerful arabian warlords.
I have added a short story with the file.
There are four maps
(1)working(up and running & under attack!).
(2) build up your castle/economy with a pre-placed keep*
(3)A working map specially made for crusader extreme.
(4)as map 2*-so you can play as one of the three arabian lords instead.
Enjoy

Does Crusader have a 1.2 version/patch or you mean at Crusader Extreme? |

If you have Crusader 1.1 already pre-installed on your PC and add the new Extreme DVD, the Crusader version will remain 1.1 .
If you install everything completely anew using the DVD you will get Crusader version 1.2.
Custom maps made with 1.2 crash on the common level. There are also multi-player break downs when different version are used.
You can have different versions of Crusader on your PC if you place them in different directories or folders. |

Hello peter2008,thanks for the comment.Yes it is an interesting map which i finally finished working on a few days ago.I am working on more maps at present-another mini-campaign(while working on the other games-see my comment on the forums regarding'playing too much stronghold').Having two pc's helps but can get confusing so i write everything down lol!
To Lord_of _Hell ,yes this is for the new game that game out, where you get both crusader trails and the 20 mission extreme trail. As for a standalone 1.2 patch i did come across one while looking for patches for my other games, but it wasnt an official patch so i didnt bother with it-However as mentioned in the forums regarding 'modding tools' for extreme(promised a year ago)nothing has materialised yet. What would be good is a csv file for the vanilla crusader game-which could add to the replay factor.Anyway let me know how you get on with the map.

I don't think different versions make that much of a difference.
I play online using that new program, and I doubt everyone I play with has 1.2 of Crusader.
I have only had one mishap online, and it was between the two people in my game and not me.
Sorry if this seems off topic, just thought I would add in my thoughts. |

I've maneged to load the map but when I wanted to close it, the game crushed. I think I must buy C. Extreme to play maps like this. For now I have only Warchest and 1.1v of Crusader. |

As far as my experiance goes. I can play V1.2 maps in version 1.2 of the game.
I can play V1.1 maps in V1.1 of the game with V1.0 maps.
I have the game installed in 2 directories. One is 1.1 and the other 1.2. |

Lord_of_Hell,sorry to hear the game crashed, but the maps are for version 1.2,as stated.
Hope you enjoy them when you get it installed.
Yes it is possible to have both versions installed on the same pc.
Finally 1.2 is not backwards compatible- if you try to edit a map with 1.0 or 1.1 all you will see is a blank template map with some pitch. Now can we have some comments about the maps please before we go any further off topic, all comments welcome for this and my previous work.
Thankyou

Hello LD,
finally I can signal you good news.
(a) I managed to have both SHC versions on my PC. Took me a damn long time to find out a trick, and an amount of insistence fed by the expectation of being rewarded when I would play your invasion map.
(b) The service of 4 maps of different types convinces me: The player can select his / her favourites and change many things as pleases.
(c) It was fun! I'm not used to be squeezed into a small installation. But I accepted the basic outline leaving most of the walls untouched and removing only the hovels and the barracks.
Also, I seldom play with AI allies. All this livelyhood on the map... Each of us killed one enemy Lord. First I smashed the towers and gatehouse with trebs and then invited the Pigs to join the charge. Funny to watch the mini map when hordes of different colours assemble and run into the same direction. - I liked the iron deposit deep inside the northwestern mountains.
Thank you very much.
(d) This type of "custom skirmish" develops into a distinct kind of its own, doesn't it? Nice you picked up the concept after my "Apple War". Many possibilities are offered now.
- Limitations, of space, population(!), troops.
- Restrictions of any(?) kind. Surely the most challenging aspect.
- "Special tasks". While it is not possible to have working events, economic requests and invasions if the map has once been changed into the skirmish type... let's have special task such as "save an exposed and highly endangered ally by all costs" like in the original mission 36 "The Descent". New movies arising in your head? |

Hello peter2008.Thanks for the feedback, the multi-colours on the mini-map are great to behold-especially with the extreme version, what a blend!.As for inspiration yes i did find your 'Apple war' to be very helpful-thanks for that mate.I'd been working on a fully fledged working invasion map ever since my 'El Zibala'As for 'movie' style maps i am working on a concept at present-All i can say is that it will be a GARGANTUAN series(great word that-*gargantuan!)the first seven maps will be released by late december and remember keep watching..................
(*-anyone who has seen 'the films 'kill bill' will know this-great films,A hint from me? surely not? ).lol-happy gaming!
