This is my first map, but don't ease up on the rating because of that.

Out of the Stone Age, Part 1

Once upon a long time ago in Persia, a group of primitive nomads ventured into the heart of a civilisation and realized how backward they were. Their entire tribe agreed to try to modernize and gain current technology. Initially, some emissaries attempted to talk to a group of monks and engineers, but they were unsympathetic to the tribe's causes. After a long debate, the tribal council decided there was only one thing to do: take this knowledge by force.

After storming a desert nation, they came upon its capital city, which was where the libraries and knowledge centers were. Many troops on both sides were drawn away by fighting elsewhere, but the garrison of the fortress at its center was still quite formidable, to the small army of attackers. But they knew that by winning this strategic battle, they would not only have access to better technology, they would also gain control of the entire surrounding country. They attacked the castle, the main force of the opposing army close on their heels. If they could conquer the stronghold and kill the King, it would crush the morale of the defenders. Then, they might, just might, be able to win.

Lead your forces to victory!

Your troops: (May be slightly off)
100 Spearmen
25 Archers
25 Arabian Bowmen
50 Slingers
50 Slaves

Enemy troops: (Not diminished)
14 Crossbowmen
23 Archers
25 Arabian Bowmen
30 Pikemen
5 Arabian Swordsmen
4 Fire Throwers
The Lord

Time before defeat:
5 Years

Difficulty: Hard, but not impossible.

-Beware the crossbowmen.
-It takes at least 25 spearmen to kill a lord.
-Who said slingers weren't great? I disagree.

Please post your win strategy and troop percentage lost, but it's not required of you.
The first time I tested it, I lost about 75% of my troops before winning (and I know how to beat it), so I post this as "hard".

Can anyone download this and redo it in a more recent version? My copy of Stronghold Crusader is a hand-me-down from a friend.

lord dredde This is quite good for a first map.The oasis/farmland is reasonably balanced and so are the defending/attacking forces, the waterfall looked okay-could be improved upon, but it is a first map.Overall i enjoyed this little scenario and look forward to more from the author, and with time and experience we should see some well crafted maps .Thanks for sharing

thank you.
wait until you seen my next map, it'll be quite the interesting scenario. (Economics map, probably but a mixture of things.)
peter2008 Readily admit that this mission took me several attempts to figure out a successful way to the enemy Lord. Very challening, as attacker to be in disadvatage of arms and armour (and height, of course).
Yes, the strong sides of slingers are usually underestimated (know only two mates who prefer them). The mission helped me to recall their value, right against the Lord, too.
The citadel showed some athmospheric variances. In another map type please shape the whole land carefully.
